🦌💤 This sleepy little fawn checked into Summit Deer Day Care earlier this week.

Don’t worry—our team left our tiny guest completely undisturbed while mom peacefully foraged nearby before returning a few hours later to pick up her adorable offspring.

A few fun fawn facts:

🦌 It’s completely normal for a fawn to spend hours alone.
What may look like “being left behind” is actually part of mom’s carefully planned childcare strategy. A doe may only visit her fawn a few times each day to nurse, helping avoid drawing predators to the hiding spot.

🦌 They grow incredibly quickly.
Based on its size, this little one was likely only a day or two old. Fawns can gain nearly half a pound per day during their first few months of life, and by autumn many are nearly half the size of their mothers.

Nature always finds creative ways to use the ski hill—even if it’s just for an afternoon nap. ❤️

What started in moments like these has carried forward for decades, shaping the community we’re proud of today. And while the gear has changed, what matters most hasn’t: kids learning, friendships forming, and families finding their place at the Club.

Mansfield has always been about more than skiing—it’s about the people who come together to make it what it is.

National Volunteer Week is the perfect time to recognize some of our incredible members who make this place what it is.

To our Board of Directors—thank you for the steady leadership, thoughtful decisions, and countless behind-the-scenes hours that keep Mansfield moving forward.

To our event committees—Ladies’ Day, Men’s Day, and Auction—thank you for bringing the energy, the ideas, and the kind of fun that turns events into traditions.

To our Race and Freestyle Committees, Team Managers and Gate Judges—thank you for the early starts, teamwork, and dedication that make event day feel seamless for our athletes.

To Assistant Pros in Snow School—thank you for the encouragement, positivity, and the extra care you bring to every lesson with our littlest members as they learn.

And to our volunteer Ski Patrollers—thank you for being the calm, capable presence on our slopes, always ready when it matters most.

Volunteers are what turn a ski club into a community.

And at Mansfield, that community shows up—again and again.

We’re grateful for every single one of you.
