What is CanSkate? CanSkate is a learn to skate program developed by Skate Canada that focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development. Your child will learn balance, control and agility. This program is suitable for aspiring hockey players, ringette players, figure skaters as well as recreational skaters. Should I register my child in Learn to Skate or CanSkat

e? If your child has never skated before, register them in Learn to Skate. Our coach will move your child up as they complete the necessary skills for each level. If your child can stand on their own and move forwards, they can be registered in CanSkate. Our program runs mid-October through mid-March weather-pending. Our CanSkate classes will run Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-530. What does my child need? Your child will need skates (ask us about the skate swap program!), a CSA approved helmet, snowpants, gloves, and a warm sweater or jacket. Is skating still allowed during the COVID-19 pandemic? Yes, Skate Canada has given clubs permission to continue with skating classes under some restrictions. The Alix Figure Skating Club is committed to following all the Skate Alberta and Alberta Health Services protocols. Give us a call today for more information, or feel free to contact Skate Alberta directly. My family is low income, and I can't afford the fees. Can my child still skate? Yes! There is a subsidy that is available for low-income Alberta families or families who have been affected by the pandemic. Its that time of year again!! We are selling tickets for our annual liquor basket draw. This year there will also be a cooler! The draw takes place right before Christmas 🎄 $5 per ticket. If anyone is interested please message our page or if you know a skating family they will also have tickets ready for you.

Learn to Skate and Can Skate both begin this Wednesday, October 15th at 5pm.
A friendly reminder that helmets must be worn at these levels & the Skate Canada fee of $55 must be paid before your child will be allowed on the ice. Welcome back everyone!🙂
