This event is open to everyone, with accessible canoes available and staff on-site to support participants of all abilities. You can bring your own canoe, paddle, and PFD or use equipment provided by the park.

Happy May Long Weekend in Algonquin Park! 🎉🍁🌲🛶🥾

The canoes are back on the water, tents are pitched, and the adventure is in full swing. Whether you’re heading out for a day paddle, your first portage of the year, or a backcountry trip, we hope you have an amazing weekend outdoors.

A quick reminder though- the water is still extremely cold this time of year! ALWAYS wear your PFD, dress for the water temperature (not the air temperature), stick close to shore and take extra caution during windy conditions. Cold water can become dangerous very quickly.

Paddle smart, stay safe, and enjoy this gorgeous long weekend! 🌞

Almost there! 🥳

Algonquin Park This Morning! — Ice out occurred on most lakes along the Highway 60 Corridor of Algonquin Park yesterday (April 25, 2026), including Lake of Two Rivers (shown). Some large lakes (e.g., Smoke Lake, Lake Opeongo, etc.) typically require a few more days to become ice-free. On average, Lake of Two Rivers thaws three days earlier than Algonquin Park's largest, Lake Opeongo. The ice out for Lake Opeongo will mark the official ice out date for Algonquin Park. See more details at https://www.algonquinpark.on.ca/news/ice-out.php or the link in our bio.
