MacEwan Griffins Official account of the MacEwan University Griffins varsity athletics department. Griffins are mythological beasts from ancient times.

The MacEwan University Griffins compete in the Canada West Universities Athletic Association (CWUAA) & U SPORTS in women and men's basketball, soccer, volleyball and hockey. MacEwan University is one of the top athletic and academic institutions in Canada. We continually strive for excellence and consistently finish among the top teams in Canada. Half lion and half eagle, they represent the dual

forces of strength and intelligence. A Griffin appears in the MacEwan family and institution coat of arms, where it is a symbol of good luck. The athletic teams of Grant MacEwan University proudly bear the name Griffins, to honour the universities namesake and to reflect the traits of courage, swiftness and excellence.
