The Pickering Ironheads family send our deep condolences to the Kawartha Fury Minor Lacrosse family as they grieve the tragic loss of U22 player Eric Hainer.
🖤🥍 The Kawartha Fury family is grieving 🥍🖤
Yesterday, after an incredible day of lacrosse and the completion of our first ever Medicine Cup, our Fury family suffered a heartbreaking loss.
One of our U22 players, Eric Hainer, who proudly represented the Fury on the floor during the tournament, tragically lost his life in a car accident while travelling home from competing.
Eric’s impact on the weekend will forever be part of our Fury history. He was there for our first tournament, and fittingly, he scored both his first and last goal for our team during the Medicine Cup. A player, a teammate, and someone who carried the spirit of the game with him every time he stepped on the floor.
Eric understood something that lacrosse has taught generations of players — the game is medicine. He played with a wooden stick, carrying with him a deep respect for the roots, traditions, and spirit of the sport he loved.
To Eric’s family, friends, teammates, coaches, and everyone who knew him — our hearts are with you. There are no words that can take away this loss, but we hope you find comfort in the memories, the laughter, the stories, and the love that surround Eric.
To our players: as you navigate this difficult time, we hope you find strength in one another and in the game Eric loved. Step onto the floor, play with heart, support your teammates, and remember the joy and connection that brought you all together.
Rest easy, Eric. Your stick will be remembered, your goals will be remembered, and your place in the Fury family will never be forgotten. 🖤🔥
