Huge thanks to Titan Sports Management & brodansalmond for having me out to help with a goalie session earlier this summer.

Had a chance to work with Oatesy before he captured our nations most recent gold medal at the U18 Hlinka Gretzky Cup - big stick taps to Leif for the accomplishment.

It takes a village to help with a players development but ultimately it comes down to the athlete applying themselves in every aspect. I’ve seen him develop with Goalie Development Inc over the years and it’s amazing to see the steps he’s taken.

Very grateful for the opportunity to work with such a driven and skilled goaltender who pays close attention to the little details that matter.

We are proud to announce Eagle Eye Goaltending’s first ever addition to the goaltending coach team. Welcome Mark Grametbauer!

As we have more goaltenders taking control of their development, we needed more hands on deck.

Couldn’t be more excited for what the future holds with Mark as we continue to help goalies develop not only on the ice, but off the ice as well.

Mark brings a boat load of experience to the table with multiple years of elite hockey under his belt. 4 years in the QMJHL, 5 years at Carleton (USPORTS), and 2 years of professional hockey in France - finishing with a championship title.

A few words from Mark…

“Goaltending has always been a huge part of my love for hockey, and I’m excited to share the experience and knowledge I’ve gained along the way. I want to help younger goalies develop their skills, build confidence, and most importantly, enjoy the position and the game. My goal is to help every goalie I work with become the best version of themselves, both on and off the ice.”

We are super grateful to be in the position to have a positive influence in every goalie’s life. We don’t take that for granted. Looking forward to supporting each unique person in the best way possible!

Wanted to share this clip from earlier in the summer while training with Swanny and Couvs as there’s some details I liked and disliked.

Good details:

• Maintaining good structure in stance and slide (staying over top of the puck)
• Getting feet set quickly in good spots
• A touch of backflow on the shot/pass option
• Battling to hold that puck on the 2nd play

Details to work on:

• Take the time to execute a more precise and controlled rotation on the first recovery
• Limit the auto block position with the hands to prevent second opportunities on the last play (can still fill those spot while being able to hold pucks in the gut/chest)
• Better timing on the scan & movement when entering/exiting the post

It’s very easy to pick apart reps one by one. However that can easily cause us to overthink and try to work on too many things at one time.

With that being said, identifying the details that keep showing up through multiple reps are important.

The good consistent details gives us some understanding that we need to keep reinforcing them as they are an integral part of our unique game. They also give us confidence.

The consistent details that create issues from rep to rep need to be addressed but it is important to isolate those so we can get the feel for it and create good habits from that recognition.

In my opinion, that is smarter training and you should start to feel and see development in those areas versus trying to work on 3 different things at once.

Looking forward to a solid month of development on the ice as we prepare for the 26/27 season.

Confidence is a derivative of preparation.

As we roll into tryouts/camps/first games, confidence needs to be a top priority.

Understanding you did the work necessary to achieve your goals will bleed into your performance on the ice and will have a positive impact on your play.

We are blessed to be in the position to assist every goalie with the tools they need to reach their full potential.

First departure of the summer! Good luck to kristian who is heading to Carleton Ravens Men’s Hockey for his second year of university hockey.

Coomber was an absolute workhorse this summer. Always showing up prepared with intention and eager to develop. He was also a great mentor for our younger goalies - giving advice and always looking out for the next generation. Best of luck Coomber. We will be cheering you on.
