Fans of and programming owe a debt of gratitude to this man. He truly understood how to make great music generate great workouts. His work on (precursor for ) moved the needle to popularise weight training for people who would never have considered this incredibly important fitness modality. His style of using a wide variety of quality and often eclectic pieces in as close to the original arrangement as possible drew the well of participant emotion to not only move better, but retain members in important fitness programmes. This unique and powerful combination was the genesis for the business model that became Local Motion Fitness and subsequently Dancing Fire Fitness.

We thank him for all that he did for the entire fitness community and offer our condolences to his family. RIP Mike.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of a Les Mills legend, Mike McSweeney.

Mike presented, choreographed and educated Trainers, Presenters and Instructors around the world for over a decade including BODYPUMP 6-58 and RPM 1-25.

He made a huge impact within the Les Mills community and we all owe a huge debt to him. Rest in peace, Mike 🤍

We are saddened at the recent passing of Sensei Linda Squires. She has been a long-time supporter of the physical fitness in our town. Decades of our children and adults alike have taken lessons in her studio. Linda always had a smile for everyone. She was able to combine discipline, honour, respect and technique of Jiu-Jitsu in a positive environment.

Thank you Sensei Linda. We will miss you. Our thoughts are with family and friends and the entire community.

The risk of COVID-19 in indoor fitness facilities remains high. In this incident, members and instructors spread the virus before they were symptomatic and aware. Two participants who wore masks still managed to contract the disease in a high-intensity class.

Masks, hand washing and physical distancing absolutely reduce the risk (witness our non-existent cold and flu season), but do not eliminate it, especially for high-intensity workouts.

Keep moving, but stay safe out there!
