Mindfulness Yoga With Dee

Mindfulness Yoga With Dee Quaint, homebased yoga studio based in East Abbotsford, near Sandy Hill Elementary. I love what I do for a living! No judgements in my space at all.

My name is Dee and I am a mother of two teenagers, a wife, a daughter, a student of yoga , a teacher of yoga and a teacher of seniors fitness. I love how Yoga has shown up in my life and how it continues to help me grow as a human in this very challenging world we live in. Mindfulness and Yoga continues to teach me on a physical, emotional and mental level how it can be life saving. As someone wh

o has suffered from anxiety and anger management for as many years as I can remember ,this practice has taught me how to walk hand in hand with anxiety and anger in a way that is loving, compassionate, non judgemental and non reactive. So this is why I do what I do and share what I share with others , because I believe in the gifts that Yoga and mindfulness have to teach us. I believe in the gifts that body movement has to teach us. I believe that when we can slow down and tap into the feelings and sensations of our bodies this can be very very healing. I believe that when we practice Yoga it broadens our capacity to be in a more conscious and aware state that can leave us feeling less reactive in overwhelming moments and situations. What can you expect from the classes that I share -

I do my best to provide a space that is safe and welcoming to everyone! My natural spirit is one of kindness, love , joy and compassion. You are in charge of you and you are the boss of your body so unless asked , I will always leave you to find your way through the yoga practice in whatever way that looks to you.

Yoga is an individual practice. I don't believe it is one size fits all. We all are unique beautiful humans that need the space to move , breath and process our bodies energy in whatever way that arrives. This is how we learn to connect to the most authentic forms of ourselves. Just being you without needing to be anything else... that is Yoga! The studio is a homebased studio near Sandy Hill Elementary. Exact address is given at registration.

What you resist only persists - Carl Jung.

This is so true. I resisted for so many years as a young adult and adolescent. And what resistance taught me , was a ton of suffering.
I felt severely anxious all the time, my mind was in constant overthinking , what if thinking and scary thought mode on a daily basis.
I felt depressed and hopeless.
My nervous system was in fight or flight 2-4-7.
I was surviving, not living.
And to be honest , I’ve come to realize , that’s ok.
If any of this resonates with you , most likely you were or are doing the best you can with what you knew at the time.
Spending time criticizing the resistance will just continue to bring us back to where we started.
But when we can just be with what is , we start to feel softer on the inside. Our parts start to feel seen and heard.
This is what the mindfulness practice has taught me for the past 20 years.
We are safe when we turn inward and welcome what is. It won’t hurt us even more. It will celebrate that you can welcome what is.
If this is new to you , or something you practice daily.
Follow these steps below and see what happens.
It’s such a great little map to guide you through some difficult feelings.

Know that you are not alone in this.
Wishing you all a peaceful Thursday ❤️✌️.

In the mindfulness practice , the teachings are rather simple. But often it’s the state of our minds that can cause these practices to feel challenging.
Like anything when we want to improve or strengthen our skills , practice on a regular basis is best.
We start to notice the stamina of the mind become more aware when we notice thoughts , storytelling , criticism and judgment .
One of the teachings that are used when practicing mindfulness is called Beginners Mind.
Beginners Mind is when we meet every experience as if you have never done it before.
So drinking out of a glass, going for a walk , driving your car to work.
Although these are just a few simple tasks we do everyday. But each moment each day is different.
There is always the opportunity to start over.
Begin again. Be in awareness of what is happening in the moment.
Paying attention to the small details of doing these things.
The simple part is to be here be now. The challenge is to quiet the mind while doing this.

So next time you notice yourself not present , or reactive , take a breath and bring yourself into beginners mind.
Reminding yourself there will always be opportunities to start over , redo this moment or that moment. To be more present and aware.
You’ve got this.
I wish you all a mindful Wednesday ✌️✌️

The word namaste means.
The teacher in me see the teacher in you.
My soul honours your soul
We are one.

Who can you learn from today? We are all teachers, and learners on this earth.
I invite you to take time to listen today, be the student.
It’s amazing the little nuggets of information we can learn when we just listen.
I also invite you to honour another today.
Thank the person for holding the door open for you, share a smile with a stranger , help someone with a task, offer someone a compliment, thank the barista for making your coffee. And be intentional and in the moment.
It’s easy to throw out a thank you, like it’s on autopilot.
But the invitation is to be present make eye contact and be genuine.
When we do this it shifts our energetic state in to a more positive place as well the others.
This is where we lean into wards the connection of being one with each other.

Have a wonderful Tuesday and I thank you all so much for being here. Not just on this FB page but for being here on earth.
You are a gift and a teacher.
Peace out ✌️

It’s Monday , exhale ….
Short and sweet.
And gentle reminder.
Take time to breathe today, listen to the birds, feel your feet on the ground.
Offer a mantra as you move through your day.
I am grounded I am clam.
No matter how you are feeling and no matter what you are doing, take some time to just be.
Now go and have a super duper day and week ahead.

Happy Friday to our Mindful Movers!
I spent a many of years trying to fix others.
When something was wrong my go to strategy was to fix this issue for them as fast as possible.
The problem is when we go to fix someone else’s life , we rob them of having the experience to heal and grow.
We all need to move through our suffering to find the healing. And nine times out of ten we survive.
The thing is trying to fix another’s problems really comes down to us needing to feel safe and connected with ourselves.
Think about it , when a good friend or loved one comes to in distress what happens to your own nervous system ? How does your body feel?
Chances are you start to feel distressed. So it’s so normal for the body to naturally send a message of “ let’s fix this now, so I can feel better again”.
We are not really helping our loved one, it’s our own self that we are trying to alleviate the suffering.
When I first heard that , it made me step back.
Now this is not to say we don’t want to see a dear one suffer , or want to help them through the suffering.
But it’s important we are mindful about how we do this.
If you notice yourself instantly giving advice that wasn’t asked for. Or you’re starting to throw a bunch of self help resources their way.
Take a moment to pause and check in with yourself.
Chances are you are feeling dis regulated from their suffering. So the better thing to do is turn inward , tend to your needs. Ask yourself , what about this is causing me to feel uncomfortable?
So then you can truly show up for this person in a supportive way.
Asking :
What do you need?
Can I do anything for you ?
Can I give you a hug?
I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this, it must be so hard?

When we stop fixing and start holding another or our selves it can be very freeing.
It takes time and practice.
I wish you all a lovely Friday.
Be well 💕✌️💕

I was asked to write something on this topic of Healing. So here goes;

Healing begins when you are able to start saying No. Healing starts when you start saying No to the suffering.

Healing starts when you start to say No, that hurts, I don't like that, that doesn't make me feel good.

These hurt feelings come up anytime we abandon our own wants, needs and wishes.

These uncomfortable feelings come up everytime we try to keep the peace, put another's feelings above our own, everytime we abandon ourselves to stay safe.

Everytime we feel unsafe, unseen, unheard, ignored, dismissed, disrespected, not valued, it is high time to say No, I cannot stay where I am not wanted.

As soon as we stop making ourselves small, stop being silent to remain safe, sacrificing ourselves, in any way, for another, it is time to say No.

When we say No; to intolerable behavior, we say Yes to ourselves.

We choose ourselves, over another, we take care of ourselves, we nurture ourselves, we love ourselves, we value ourselves.

The moment we say No, No more!!!

Healing begins ...

Please, share this Compassionate message with anyone who may need to hear what the power of No, can do.

Love is easier , it just is. Yet we burn up so much good energy being unkind to ourselves.
Why??
It’s the way our brain is wired, it is a protective mechanism, and for some of us maybe learned by the environment we grew up in.
The beautiful thing is , we can rewire , retrain our brain to work from a kind place a compassionate place.
Next time you catch yourself not loving on you.
Pause , take a breath and then start that conversation over with yourself.
It might sound like this.

“ It’s ok I feel like this”
“It’s ok I feel embarrassed, or made a mistake. These things happen”.
“Today was a tough day, I didn’t handle it the best, tomm is a new day, I can try again.”
“I’m going to choose to love myself like I would a good friend or loved one”.

Go and do something nice for yourself today.
You are worth it.
Wishing you all a mindful Tuesday 💕✌️
