Had the most surreal encounter with a gentle manatee today at Hol Chan Marine Reserve. Huge shoutout to our incredible dive master, Luis—his knowledge and respect for these creatures made all the difference. He knows exactly how to share the water with them without stressing them out.

8:30 check-in is perfect-gives you time to get geared up without rushing, and casting off at 9 AM
means you'll hit the site right when the light cuts through the water best. If conditions are amazing, we're talking crystal-clear visibility and gentle currents.

There’s nothing quite like locking eyes with a manatee—wrinkled whiskers, slow-motion twirls, and pure, ancient curiosity. They choose to come close, not because you’re feeding them, but because they’re simply curious about you.

Rules of the swim:
✅ Float & observe
✅ Let them approach you
✅ Give them space to breathe
❌ No touching (we admire from afar!)

They were curious, graceful, and totally in charge. Barely a few feet of water, and yet it felt like the deep ocean. Unforgettable.
