Happy 1st of June, International Childhood Day. In 1956, the General Assembly of the United Nations recommended that a Universal Children's Day be established in all countries, which would be devoted to fraternity and understanding between children and girls worldwide and to be dedicated to their own activities to promote the welfare of children and girls of the world.
International Childhood Day, stage of life that marks forever the future of human beings and the continuity of their own presence on earth. It should represent for every inhabitant of the planet the happiest moment of existence; nevertheless:
About 600 million children live in poverty. And over 27,000 under the age of five die every day from preventable causes.
More than 250 million children aged five to 14 work extensive, grueling workdays.
Another 130 million do not receive even elementary education.
Roughly six million suffer limiting injuries caused by war conflicts or have died as a result of wars.
There are about three hundred thousand children under the age of 18 who currently serve as combatants around the world (making them nearly 10% of all global combatants). They serve in 40% of the world’s armed forces, opposition groups, and terrorist organizations and fight in nearly 75% of global conflicts.
For the past five years, children have served as soldiers on every continent (except Antarctica). In addition, more than half a million children serve in the armed forces who are currently not at war.
Another cannot be the conclusion when it is known that 600 million children in the world currently live in poverty; 250 million between five and 14 years old work in Third World countries; 130 of these do not receive an education and another six million suffer limiting injuries caused by wars or armed conflicts. Every 24 hours, eight thousand 500 boys contract AIDS.
According to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), child prostitution and po*******hy, so-called street children and organ trafficking from underage boys.
