Strengthening Youth Basketball Development Through Equipment Support and
Capacity Building The Belize Basketball Federation (BBF) continues to prioritize the growth and development of
youth basketball across the country as a key pillar of national sports advancement. The BBF is initiating a structured youth development program
aimed at strengthening grassroots basketball systems within local affiliated associations.
Across Belize, community basketball associations play a critical role in identifying, training,
and mentoring young athletes. However, many of these associations face limitations due to
inadequate equipment and insufficient access to structured training resources. These
challenges directly impact their ability to deliver consistent, high-quality development
programs for youth.
This project represents the first phase of a broader national youth development initiative. It
focuses on equipping eight (8) affiliated basketball associations with the essential tools
needed to enhance training environments, improve coaching delivery, and expand youth
participation within their respective communities. The equipment packages included basketballs, adjustable portable hoops, cones, agility speed ladders, jump ropes, agility hurdles, scrimmage vests, ball bags, whistles and coaches boards.
