It is with profound sadness that the Morales family announces the death of veteran sports journalist Rubén Morales Iglesias which occurred peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2026 in Belize City.

The late Rubén Morales Iglesias is pre-deceased by his mother: Francisca Iglesias De Morales and his father: Aurelio Morales Sr.

Rubén is survived by:

Wife: Mrs. Martha (Tita) Morales
Son: Rubén Morales Jr.
Daughter: Dr. Lesly Morales Brodhurst

He is also survived by:

Brother and Sisters:
Aurelio Morales Jr.
Maria del Carmen Lisbey
Rosita Luz Morales
Aurora Morales
Elenita Betancourt
Angelita Alamilla

Son in Law: Albert Brodhurst
And granddaughters: Madyson and Laurel Brodhurst.

Brothers in law, sister in law, nieces and nephews.

The body of Rubén Morales Iglesias will be taken on Wednesday, March 18, at 10:00 a.m. to the Pallotti High School Auditorium in Belize City for viewing, which will continue until 12:30 p.m. Then at 1:00 p.m. the body will lie in state at St. Joseph Church also in Belize City, and will be followed by a mass at 2:00 p.m.

Following the mass, the family will travel to Benque Viejo del Carmen, where the official wake will be held at his family home (at #52 Church Street) on Wednesday, March 18.

The funeral mass will take place on Thursday, March 19, at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Carmel Church, Benque Viejo del Carmen, followed by a funeral procession and burial at the Benque Viejo Cemetery.

The family expresses sincere gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this time.
