The Ballet Art School, formerly The Mary Valdes School of Dance inaugurated its studio at 553 Seashore Drive, Belize City in September 1999. The school presently has an enrollment of eighty-eight students, ages 4 to 20 years old. The founding director of the school was the legendary Mrs. Mary Valdes who was the first Belizean to be honored with the Outstanding Artist Award of the Belize Arts Counc

il. Mamie Martinez a former student of the Mary Valdes School of Dance is the director of the school. The Ballet Art School has an ongoing collaboration with the Cuban National Ballet whereby instructors have been teaching at the school for the past thirteen years. The present instructor and choreographer of today’s performance is Profesora Dariana Peraza Godinez. Our dancers are delighted to present Belizean Medley representing the diversity of our cultural dances. Costumes were created by Mrs. Beatrice Chee.
