SVM Chobe Region Successfully Launched

The Sport Volunteer Movement (SVM) Chobe Region was successfully launched on Saturday, 15 August 2026, marking a significant milestone for the Movement and the people of Chobe.

Speaking during the launch, the Director for Sport Development at the Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC), Mr Peaceful Seleka, appreciated the great work being done by SVM. He highlighted that the services provided by volunteers help to curb costs associated with sporting events while positively impacting the livelihoods of communities and taking children off the streets.

Mr Seleka further emphasised that SVM is a movement for people of all ages and encouraged everyone in Chobe to join the Movement and take part in developing sport through volunteerism.

The SVM NEC Chairperson, Ms Boikanyo Moepedi, also described the launch as a great milestone for SVM and the people of Chobe. She encouraged the people of Chobe to take advantage of the opportunity by actively participating in the Movement and contributing towards the well-organised and successful hosting of sporting events within the region.

The launch marks a new chapter for sport volunteerism in Chobe, bringing communities together through the love of sport, service and volunteerism.

Preparations are well underway for the official launch of the Sport Volunteer Movement (SVM) Chobe Region, with the valued support of the Botswana National Sport Commission.

The launch will take place on Saturday, 15 August 2026, at Nkanga Hotel in Kasane.
The launch will be graced by Mr Peaceful Seleka, Director for Sport Development at BNSC, who will serve as the Guest of Honour.

The launch brings together sport volunteers, stakeholders and residents of Chobe and surrounding areas to celebrate the power of sport, volunteerism, unity and community development.

Here’s what’s on the programme:

07:00 AM — Cycling
Registration is FREE!

10:00 AM — SVM Chobe Region Official Launch

12:00 PM — SVM Chobe Region Committee Elections
