Esther Mpotsang Heads Back To Continue Studies

BDF’s very own Esther Mpotsang, who has been awarded an ICCR scholarship for the second time has left to continue her studies. Mpotsang was yesterday accompanied by the BDF team members Kabo Mosarwe, Thobo Matlhatsi, her family and friends as she headed to New Delhi to pursue a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Analytics at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University for two years , a remarkable continuation of her academic journey through table tennis.

A total of 54 ICCR beneficiaries are expected to begin departing for India soon. BTTA currently has nine athletes studying in India, with four having already graduated, a clear reflection of the fruitful partnership between BTTA and the Indian High Commission.
This milestone not only highlights BTTA's commitment to athlete development on and off the field, but also cements the strong bilateral relationship between Botswana and India in the areas of sports, education, and culture

**BDF Table Tennis Dominates Phoenix Letlhakane Open**

The BDF Table Tennis Club made a remarkable showing at the Phoenix Letlhakane Open Tournament, showcasing their exceptional talent and dedication to the sport. The club’s outstanding performance saw them secure a total of five medals, reaffirming their status as a dominant force in Botswana’s table tennis scene.

Highlighting their success was Tshireletso Samuel, who clinched the gold medal in the men’s singles category, bringing pride to the BDF team and the nation. In addition to Samuel’s triumph, BDF players also showed impressive resilience and skill in the doubles categories. Bakang Maloka earned a silver medal in men’s singles, while Constance Kuswani added another silver for the club in ladies’ singles, further demonstrating their versatility and competitive edge.

The tournament also witnessed another BDF’s stars, Salome Matlhatsi and Sibongile Six, both of whom bagged bronze medals in the respective categories, highlighting the club’s depth of talent and future potential.

The success was made possible thanks to the generous sponsorship from Phoenix Assurance of Botswana, which provided the prize money for the tournament. Their support continues to promote sports development and excellence within the country.

With such an impressive haul of medals, the BDF Table Tennis Club has once again proven that they are a force to be reckoned with in Botswana’s sporting arena. Fans and supporters eagerly look forward to their upcoming competitions, expecting continued dominance and the emergence of even more talented players.

BTTA President Kudzanani Motswagole Departs for Namibia to Oversee AUSC Region 5 Competitions

Gaborone, Botswana — The President of the Botswana Table Tennis Association (BTTA), Mr. Kudzanani Motswagole, who also serves as the President of the African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5, departed for Namibia this afternoon to oversee the AUSC Region 5 competitions currently being hosted in the country.

Mr. Motswagole’s trip marks a continuation of his leadership duties at the regional level, where he plays a key role in coordinating and supervising sports development initiatives and competitions across Southern Africa. His presence in Namibia is expected to provide strategic oversight and support to ensure the smooth ex*****on of the multi-sport regional event.

The AUSC Region 5 competitions bring together athletes from ten Southern African nations, promoting unity, talent development, and the spirit of sportsmanship across borders. As President, Motswagole is tasked with fostering collaboration among member states, strengthening governance structures, and advancing the region’s sporting agenda.

Speaking prior to his departure, Mr. Motswagole emphasized the importance of regional cooperation in elevating the standard of sports on the continent. “These competitions are not just about medals — they’re about building future champions, strengthening ties between nations, and creating pathways for youth development through sport,” he said.

The Botswana sports fraternity continues to express pride in Mr. Motswagole’s dual leadership roles, which not only elevate the visibility of local sport administrators but also reflect Botswana’s growing influence on the continental sports stage.

The AUSC Region 5 competitions will run throughout the coming days, featuring 13 disciplines ranging from table tennis, athletics, special Olympics netball to boxing, and swimming, just to mention a few.
