Playing for Maharishi International University, Katlego Regoeng made an impressive College Tennis debut at the Emporia State University George Milton Chicken Dinner Classic in Kansas this weekend.

Katlego battled his way into the final after defeating Evan Goates 3-6, 6-4, (11-9) in a thrilling semifinal.

🇧🇼🎾 HISTORY MADE — RAGUIN QUALIFIES FOR US OPEN JUNIOR MAIN DRAW! 🇺🇸

Botswana's Ntungamili Raguin has qualified for the US Open Junior Boys' Main Draw after a thrilling 7-5, 7-6(9) victory over American Izyan Ahmad in the final round of qualifying in New York.

The victory makes Raguin the first Motswana to reach the main draw of the US Open Juniors. 🇧🇼

It took two and a half hours of tremendous fighting spirit to get there.

After falling 0-3 behind in the opening set, Ntungamili fought his way back to take it 7-5.

The second set developed into an intense battle, with both players exchanging breaks of serve. Trailing 5-6, Raguin held his nerve to force a tiebreak.

In a dramatic finish, Ntungamili saved four consecutive set points before converting his fourth match point, taking the tiebreak 11-9 and securing his place in the Main Draw.

Ntungamili will now represent Botswana in the main draw of his fourth Junior Grand Slam of 2026, following appearances at the Australian Open, Roland-Garros and Wimbledon.

Eight Junior Tennis Players Off to Morocco for the African Junior Championships

Botswana Tennis Association has entered eight promising junior players to represent the country at the 2026 African Junior Championships (AJC) for the Under 14 age group, scheduled to take place in Morocco from 7 to 12 September 2026.

The national team comprises four girls and four boys who have earned the opportunity to compete against Africa's best young tennis talent departs for Morocco today (4th September 2026).

- Tinashe Phatshwane
- Lebone Tlape
- Francesco Brink
- Motheo Kgosimore

The team will be accompanied by Coach Gaone Modisane, who will guide the players throughout the championship.

The African Junior Championships represent one of the most prestigious junior tennis competitions on the continent, bringing together top ranked players from across Africa. Beyond competing for continental honours, the Botswana juniors will also be vying for valuable points towards their Confederation of African Tennis (CAT) Under 14 rankings.

In addition, the tournament provides a pathway for qualification to the African Masters competition, offering young athletes an opportunity to further showcase their talent on the international stage.

The participation of the Botswana team underscores the continued growth of junior tennis development in the country and provides a valuable platform for the players to gain international exposure and experience against elite opposition.

The Botswana Tennis Association wishes the team a successful championship and looks forward to seeing the players represent the nation with pride and determination in Morocco.

🇧🇼🎾 RAGUIN WINS US OPEN JUNIOR QUALIFYING OPENER

Botswana's Ntungamili Raguin has made a winning start at the US Open Junior Championships in New York, defeating Germany's Eric Dylan Mueller 6-3, 6-4 in the first round of qualifying.

Mueller, currently ranked No. 81 in the ITF Junior World Rankings, came into the US Open in strong form after winning the J200 Basel tournament in July.

Raguin took control of the opening set to win it 6-3. After falling 0-2 behind in the second set, the Motswana fought his way back, breaking Mueller at 3-4 to level at 4-4 before taking the final three games of the match.

🇧🇼 Raguin is now one victory away from the US Open Junior Main Draw.

He will face American Izyan Ahmad tomorrow in the final round of qualifying.

🇧🇼 Angel & Emmly Lebogang George (Zimbabwe) beat Jesse De Villiers & Lika Claassens(South Africa) 6-2, 6-2. They face Ines Fouque (France) & Tatum Venter (South Africa) tomorrow.

🇧🇼 Martin & Alexzander Petrov (South Africa) upset the No. 4 seeds Ethan Dodd & Dehan Van Deventer 4-6, 6-4, 10-8. They face Vladimir Ijgnatov & Juvan Van Pletzen tomorrow.

Despite their singles defeats earlier today, both players have bounced back strongly in doubles. 💪🔥

🇧🇼 Angel Chakanyuka defeated Lisa Jonker of South Africa 6-4, 6-4 in the Girls’ Singles Draw. She will next face Lea Dube of South Africa tomorrow.

🇧🇼 Martin Seetso recorded an impressive 6-1, 6-1 victory over Philips DeBruin of South Africa in the Boys’ Singles Draw. He will face Ethan Andrew Peiber of Austria tomorrow.
