AND THAT’S A WRAP! 🇧🇼

Four incredible days of speed, strength, determination and unforgettable moments have come to an end! The XXII Africa Aquatics Zone IV Swimming Championships have officially wrapped up in Botswana.

A huge CONGRATULATIONS to every swimmer who took to the pool and gave it their all. From personal bests to record-breaking performances and hard-fought finishes, you made these championships truly special!

A massive congratulations to all the individual event winners and medalists across the championships. Your dedication, discipline and passion have inspired us all.

To all 13 participating countries, all athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, partners, sponsors, families and fans, thank you for being part of this incredible celebration of aquatics in the region.

THE BOTSWANA STORY WOULD NOT BE COMPLETE WITHOUT DIAMONDS! 🇧🇼

Beyond the pool, our Zone IV swimmers got a glimpse of another powerful part of the Botswana story - diamonds! 💎

The athletes had the opportunity to tour DTC Botswana, where they got to see Botswana’s diamonds up close and learn about an industry that has played a transformative role in shaping our economy and our nation.

From development and opportunity to sport development and empowering the next generation of athletes, the diamond story continues to shine far beyond the stones themselves. 🏊🏾‍♀️🏊🏾‍♂️💎

For our visiting athletes, it was a chance to experience Botswana beyond the competition - our people, our progress and our diamonds. 🇧🇼

Because every Botswana story has a little sparkle. ✨💎

🇧🇼 THE REGION HAS ARRIVED. THE RACE IS ON! 💦🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️

Botswana officially welcomed the region yesterday as the XXII Africa Aquatics Zone IV Swimming Championships were officially opened at the University of Botswana Swimming Pool.

The colourful opening ceremony brought together athletes, officials, regional aquatics leaders, the sporting fraternity and partners as Botswana set the stage for an exciting week of competition featuring the region’s finest swimmers. 🌍💦

Officially opening the championships, Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Hon. Nelson Ramaotwana, described sport as a powerful vehicle for holistic human development, highlighting its role in shaping character, fostering discipline and creating opportunities for young people to thrive.

He also highlighted the importance of hosting regional events of this magnitude, noting that they provide local athletes with a valuable platform to gain exposure, build confidence and compete at the highest level on home soil. 🇧🇼

The championships continue until 5 September, and we’re calling on everyone to come down to the University of Botswana Swimming Pool and rally behind Team Botswana.

Bring your energy. Bring your flags. Bring the noise! 🇧🇼💙
