Snowman Race World’s Toughest and High-altitude Ultra-marathon Everest - and takes ordinary trekkers up to 20 days to complete. The race ends at the valley of Bumthang.

The Snowman Race draws inspiration from the prescient wisdom of His Majesty The King in bringing hope and people together from all over the world to address the greatest challenge of our global community - the fast-changing climate. The route of the Snowman Race is visible proof of the effects of climate change - receding glaciers, ecosystem disruption, and socioeconomic impact on nomadic life. A total of the top 30 ultra-runners will take on this unique and most inspiring challenge, joining a nation’s call to bring the attention of the world to the melting glaciers of the Himalayas caused by a warming planet. With an average elevation over 14,000 feet (4,267 meters) and multiple summits over 18,000 feet(5,486 meters), the 5-day race follows a 138-mile (222 km) high-altitude trekking route called “Snowman Trek” that has been conquered by fewer people than Mt. Against a backdrop of staggering mountains and majestic glaciers, the route begins in Gasa, before the route traverses Lunana, one of the most remote areas in Bhutan.

The Snowman Race family extends our deepest sympathies to everyone impacted by the recent devastating floods in Nepal. Our hearts go out to the communities grieving lost loved ones, displaced families, and those facing the tough road of recovery.

As an organization founded to realize the vision of our beloved His Majesty King Jigme in championing climate action, safeguarding highland communities, and protecting fragile mountain ecosystems, we recognize that this crisis is not just a natural disaster, it is a stark, heartbreaking manifestation of the accelerating climate crisis. The high mountains and downstream communities of our region are on the front lines of unpredictable weather, melting glaciers, and extreme rainfall.

From Bhutan to the Alps! 🇧🇹🏔️

The UTMB World Series Finals brings together thousands of the world’s finest trail runners for some of the most challenging and prestigious mountain races. This year, around 7,000 runners from 97 countries are gathering in the Alps to take on this incredible challenge.

Among them is Bhutan’s own Mountain Man, Jigme Tenzin, representing Bhutan in the CCC 100KM on 28 August 2026. Starting in Courmayeur, Italy, the race crosses through Switzerland before finishing in Chamonix, France.

We are delighted to be part of Jigme’s journey and we wish him a strong, safe and unforgettable race! 🇧🇹💪. Run strong, run proud, and carry Bhutan with you all the way to Chamonix! 🇧🇹❤️
