On the evening of 25th December 2025, Yeshey Choden, one of Bhutanโs most dedicated women cricketers, has officially announced her retirement from International Cricket.
Yeshey has been a foundational figure in Bhutan womenโs cricket since her early days, progressing from the Under-19 level to the senior national team and representing her country with pride for over 18 years (2008โ2025). During her long and influential career, she brought leadership and experience to the side and captained the national team in an international tournament, inspiring her teammates and young aspiring cricketers.
In T20 International cricket, Yeshey played in numerous matches for Bhutan, contributing with the bat and offering value in all aspects of the game as part of her teamโs journey through regional qualifiers and bilateral series. Across her T20I career, she appeared in 31 matches, scoring nearly 200 runs and participating in the growth of womenโs cricket in Bhutan at every level she competed.
Yesheyโs journey in the sport began under her first coach, Damber, whose early guidance helped shape her career. Damber, now the CEO of Bhutan Cricket, honoured her retirement with kind words and a traditional Kadar offering in recognition of her service and lifelong commitment to the game.
Bhutan Cricket sincerely thanks Yeshey Choden for her outstanding contribution to the sport and wishes her all the best in the next chapter of her life. Her legacy will continue to inspire future generations of cricketers.
