MY RESPONSE TO YOUR EXCUSES.

“I can’t lose fat.”

Yes you can. You just want to do it without doing the things required to lose it. You want the results without the inconvenience the comes with it.

“I can’t do 10,000 steps a day.”

Ok, do 7,000, do 5,000. You don’t need to hit a magical number. But sitting around all day and acting confused as to why your body isn’t changing isn’t a mystery.

“I don’t want to lower my calorie intake.”

Then increase your activity. You don’t get to say, “I won’t eat less, I won’t move more, I won’t change what I eat,” and expect a change.

“What can I take to lose my belly fat?”

What did you take to get the belly fat? Take less of that, it’s guaranteed to work. If you put a car in drive, it goes forward, if you put it in reverse, it will do the opposite.

“But I’m hungry.”

Are you sure? Test it first. Drink some water. Make sure you’re not depressed, stressed or anxious. If you’re still hungry, then eat, but stop acting like a box of donuts, ice cream or a family size bag of chips are your only options. You already know what to eat.

“I don’t like fruits and vegetables.”

Okay, then find something you actually like. Don’t eat broccoli cause I told you to. But if you hate cardio, you hate lifting weights, hate walking, you hate eating nutrient dense foods, hate cutting calories, hate changing the way you eat…then what the heck are you expecting me to do?🤷🏾‍♂️

Things I encourage my clients to not waste their money on. There’s a certain level of delusion that one must create to convince themselves.

1. Fat burners. It’s sounds good but there’s no pill in the world that burns fat. If there was, most of us wouldn’t be able to afford it.

2. Detox teas. Tea is tea, it will never do what your liver is designed to do. By all means, drink your tea ☕️ but don’t expect it clean up the crap 💩 you eat.

3. Waist trainer. It’s just another name for a girdle. They may give you an elusion of a smaller waist under your clothing, but does absolutely nothing to decrease belly fat.

Most people who believe in these methods of weight/fat loss are avoiding doing the real work and looking for a shortcut. They have somehow convinced themselves that these methods are helping them in some way or another.

I started buying my meats in bulk and it’s a game changer.

1. I pay wayyyy less per pound
2. I make wayyy less trips to the grocery store.
3. I can plan what I wanna eat cause I already know what I have in the fridge.
4. I can season different meats ahead of time and refrigerate them.
5. I can experiment more on different ways to prepare foods.

If you’re on a health and wellness journey I strongly recommend doing this, it’s gonna make your journey so much easier.

FITNESS TIPS THAT SOUNDS MOTIVATIONAL UNTIL YOU REALLY THINK ABOUT IT.

1. We all have the same 24 hours:
We all have the same amount of hours but absolutely do not have the same demands on them. Pretending we all have the same access and resources doesn’t help anyone.

2. No excuses:
Illnesses, disability, money, caring responsibilities, work commitments. Life is complicated, and pretending none of these things affects our ability to exercise isn’t motivational.

3. If you want something bad enough you’ll make time:
Wanting something doesn’t magically create childcare, money, energy and free time.

4. Choose your hard:
Sometimes people don’t get to choose their hard, sometimes life chooses it for them.

5. You just need to be more disciplined:
Usually said by someone who knows nothing about your life. But conveniently has something to sell you.

Maybe fitness doesn’t need to be built on guilt , shame and pretending everyone starts from the same place. Maybe we can just help people move more without making them feel like crap 💩 about themselves.

Fitness advice that leaves room for being an actual human being.

When you’re a beginner on your fitness journey, there’s no such thing as balance. When I hear people say ooh, you gotta have some balance, that’s just their way of telling me they plan to mess up this weekend. If you’re a beginner the only balance you should be practicing is how to balance one dumbbell in each hand, otherwise there is no balance for you. Balance is something you earn, balance is something you practice after you’ve reached your goal. At the beginning, you’re locked in. You’re all in. You’re working out every day you’re walking every day. You’re eating in portions every day you’re drinking water every day, no late nights, you’re in bed on time, even on weekends, especially on weekends. There is no balance for beginners, you can’t handle that yet. Balance is why your belly still big right now, balance is why after 6 months you’re still struggling to lose 5lbs. Balance is why you’re still on blood pressure medication, balance is why you’re taking insulin resistant. It’s cause you’re balancing them burgers and fries. You don’t get to practice balance until you’ve mastered consistency, mastered discipline, showing up when you don’t feel like it. Until you’ve mastered delayed gratification. No, You don’t get to have cheat meals, some us been cheating most of your lives, from kids playing hide n seek(pretend to close eyes), in school cheating on exams, some people cheating on their spouse. That’s enough cheating. When you’ve accomplish your goal, then you can practice balance, then you can have an occasional cocktail then you can have an occasional fast food treat, but until then, It’s all in man. Now go balance yourself in the kitchen and fix something to eat. Stay focused, we jammin still.
