Itās Time!
Itās time to start my GET FIT WHILE YOU SIT class! .
I have been debating doing this class for months now, but after the storm I was determined to make it happen and feel that now is a good to time to introduce a class that can help make people feel better both mentally and physically.
I strongly believe in doing what my heart is telling me to do and in this case itās telling me to follow this thing through!
The idea came to me last year, when a lady came to me, asking for a class for her mom that wasnāt too much stress on her legs and knees. I told her that my line dancing class wouldnāt be a good fit because everything is done standing and some of the dances are fast. She seemed disappointed and honestly I was too on her behalf, because for the love of me, I couldnāt figure out why no one has tried to cater to folks like that, when it comes to working out š¤·š¾āāļø.
So after that conversation, I set out to do just that! I want to create a class that not only caters to seniors, but also persons with lower back issues, bad knees or persons that donāt want to do really intense workouts like aerobics, line dance or the gym for that matter.
I searched high and low and came up with this idea of a sit down class. I remember telling my co-worker about the idea, he thought it was great but couldnāt understand why sitting wouldnāt defeat the purpose of a workout š¤. I told him there are a lot of folks looking for something to do but canāt because of them either being overweight or because their knees are bad. I told him, if we say we want to help people with our classes we have to think differently. I think we should create things that could get people moving again and then maybe some will even be inspired to try the gym but everyone needs a place to start and this class will be the perfect option for a lot of folks!
I know it sounds crazy, but my heart is telling me I need to do this and I always follow my heart no matter what. Also, being with my mom for so many years with her in a wheel chair, I wish someone had thought of this for her - so call me crazy, but I want to do a Get Fit While You Sit class!
I even got so lucky that, during the process of putting this class together, I ended up running into an ex Military guy that was teaching that exact class as a Fitness Class onboard a cruise I was on! So I immediately signed up, took the class and fell in love with it! After the class, I spoke to the instructor and I told him that in 2 years, I will invite him to the Bahamas to teach a class š¼. I think he thinks that I was joking, but that only gives me even more inspiration to do it š¤£š¤£š¤£.
I am really excited about this class, I know it can be a life changer for many folks. Iāve worked on it day and night and Iāve even introduced it to our guests at work to see if they would like it and the feedback was amazing - they loved it!
I love to dance, so I took my favorite songs and my favorite dances and I tweaked them and made them into chair exercises. I made dances to all types of genres of music to fit every type of personality.
So today is November 1st and I am happy and proud to say that I will launch my class on the Saturday, November 16th with a free introductory class at the Health Fair!!! š so come and try it out!
Classes will thereafter be held at Bahamas Dance Theater, every Tuesday from 6-7pm. $10 per class. Starting on November 19th.
Wish me Luck š. Oh, one more thing... Lord, please stop putting these things into my head, because I will try all of them!! Lol So Lord, if this is a test... I passed again! š¤Ŗ
