Siu Lam Win Chun kuen, descended from the Siu Lam(shaolin) Temple and it's origins came form the same art and teaching methods applied by the Siu Lam monks. destroyed by the Manchurians, it's said that some Masters among them the Abbott Jee Shim the Siu Lam grand master resposible for teaching the art to no monks martial artist. In Siu Lam a special hall was built and which only the most experienc
ed monks met over the centuries to improve and refine their kung fu. the hall was either named Wing Chun Dien(everlasting vitality hall) or Wing Chun Tong(forever springtime hall) the martial art and qigong(chi kung) taught and practised on this hall was known as Wing Chun Kuen. the "Always Natural" state of mind based on the Chan Buddhist religion was the very center of the practise and because of it only the very simple, functional and direct concept of martial art was praticed inside that sacred hall. Because of treason against the Qing Dynasty the Siu Lam temple was destroyed, betraied by a low rank monk that poisoned their water supply the monks were killed by the manchurian troops, among the survivors was the Abbott Jee Shim Sim Si under a fake identity he joined the red boat chinese opera as a cook, legend says that a criminal know as Wong Lao Fu(tiger wong) tried to extort protection money form the entertainers who did not know kung fu, only theater kung fu, as the deadline came, the opera members feared their end was near. Jee Shim till then regarded only as a crazy cook faced the criminal. tiger wong did not take the cook seriously...
as i write about the fighting you must not take it as simple combat but as the tradition and concepts of the style is passed...
Tiger Wong tried to grab Jee Shim's neck with a fu joh(tiger claw), Jee Shin easily "borrowed" Wong's energy and breaked two fingers of his right hand, telling the bandit that he couldn't win and he should give up, just made Wong more furious tryind a sequence of continuos punchs to overpower his oponent Tiger Wong atacked, Jee Shim easily deflected and dodged locking his oponents arms and legs(kun na) and hitting on his "soft spots" Tiger Wong realized he was confronting a true kung fu master and gave up, the fight was shortly ended. inpired by the cook kung fu knowledge the enterteiners of the red boat started to practise the Siu Lam kung fu style and so Jee Shimm revealed himself as the Abbott and master he really was
many legends were invented about Wing Chun origins and history to protect the identity of the abbot and his students, and only a true master trained in every aspect of the art would have the truth revealed as he finished his learning
