We’ve wrapped up the 2025 Worlds in Castelo with a hard fought 9th place! We’re also extremely proud that Alexia came in second place among women - just points from being world champion.

It was a very difficult competition in many ways, with challenging weather, tough launch conditions, and gear delays, and we’re proud of our team’s performance. Unfortunately Violeta broke her ankle on launch on the first day, but she is recovering and looking forward to being in the sky again soon.

Thanks to everyone who followed along, donated to help get us here, and who’s helping support US paragliding. Stay tuned for US Team trainings sessions for our donors this year!

The US Paragliding Team thanks the Recreation Risk Retention Group for their generous support of our Worlds team! The RRRG was created a few years ago to provide risk management to US schools and members. Its sole focus is “liability insurance for recreational sports programs. That’s what we do. It’s all we do. We do it for the long term.”

It’s thanks to the RRRG that we can run events and competitions that prepare our pilots for the world stage - thank you for everything you do for paragliding in the US!

Our next pilot on the US National team is Violeta Jimenez, !

Violeta enjoys long flights on her Enzo and whatever cold beverage is available in the landing zone. She will celebrate 11 years of flying paragliders while at the World Championships this year. She lives in Seattle, Washington, and works in AI. Much like Batman, she changes from business wear to spandex when appropriate signs appear in the sky. This is her second time representing the United States at the Worlds, and she is proud that, for the second time, she will be one of two women selected outright for the team. She has won 7 World Cups and is currently ranked 2nd woman in the world.

Next up on the US Worlds Team 2025: Alexia Fischer!

is the newest pilot and a rookie to the Worlds. Hailing from Seattle, WA, she started flying in late 2018 and did her first competition in 2021. Since then, she’s proven herself in the competition scene in the women’s category and overall with high-level, consistent flying. She has 2 Superfinal Women’s podiums – the only US pilot to do so, Women’s National Champion 2024 ( #2 Overall), and US league XContest winner in the female category 2 years in a row (2023, 2024). When she’s not racing paragliders or flying cross country, she’s racing sailboats, doing long bicycle rides, or hanging out with her dog Finnley.

The 2025 Paragliding World Championships will be held in Castelo, Brazil this year and the US is sending a very strong team of veteran competition pilots! We need your help to make it happen. Please consider a donation to support our US National team. They have worked hard to get to this point, but we need your help with some of the expense that goes into the event, including supporting a team leader to help the team race for glory. Anything you can donate is greatly appreciated, and for those donating over $1000, you will receive a US Team Speed Sleeve like the uniforms worn by the US Team.
