Crossing the Atlantic - Oriol Servià
The team headed by four-time F1 World Champion Alain Prost had a bad season and even the presence of Jean Alesi had not got any points. For 2001 they lost the support of Gauloises (French ci******es) and Peugeot. But losses can sometimes result in better opportunities, in this case, Ferrari engines. The problem would be, of course, money. With few sponsors, the second driver should be someone with the support of a sponsor.
In December 2000, at the Circuit de Catalunya, Prost gave the opportunity for a test to Oriol Servià, Enrique Bernoldi and Kimi Raikkonen (who wouldn't testing because his superlicense didn't arrive in time).
The Brazilian had the Red Bull money (which he took from Arrows), while the Catalan took the theoretical money from Telefónica.
Tests went well for Servià, who proved to be significantly faster than Bernoldi. But Telefónica would eventually retreat, fearing a new fiasco in 2001 as Prost had not scored any points in 2000. This made Servià lose all chances. The place ended up with the argentine Gaston Mazzacane, previously sponsored by the same Telefónica and who now took the money from PSN.
Servià was still quoted as a starter in 2002, alongside Heinz-Harald Frentzen, but the team went bankrupt before that.

A equipe chefiada pelo tetracampeão mundial Alain Prost tinha tido uma temporada ruim e nem mesmo a presença de Jean Alesi tinha rendido algum ponto. Para 2001 perderam o apoio da Gauloises (cigarro francês) e da Peugeot. Mas as perdas às vezes podem resultar em oportunidades melhores, no caso, os motores Ferrari. O problema seria, é claro, o dinheiro . Com poucos patrocinadores, o segundo piloto deveria ser alguém com o apoio de um patrocinador.
Em dezembro de 2000, no Circuito da Catalunha, a Prost deu a oportunidade de um teste para Oriol Servià, Enrique Bernoldi e Kimi Raikkonen, que acabaria não testando pois sua superlicença não chegou a tempo.
O brasileiro tinha o dinheiro Red Bull (que levou da Arrows), enquanto que o catalão levava o dinheiro teórico da Telefónica.
Os te**es correram bem para Servià, que mostrou-se significativamente mais rápido do que Bernoldi. Mas a Telefónica acabaria recuando, temendo um novo fiasco em 2001 já que a Prost não havia marcado nenhum ponto em 2000. Isso fez Servià perder todas as chances. A vaga acabou ficando com o argentino Gaston Mazzacane, antes patrocinado pela mesma Telefónica e que agora levava o dinheiro da PSN.
Servià ainda foi cotado para ser titular da equipe em 2002, ao lado de Heinz-Harald Frentzen, mas a equipe foi a falência antes disso.
