Non esprimere se stessi ma ascoltare il mondo

Esiste un’idea comune in Europa che è quella di dover imparare ad esprimere sé stessi. Questo va bene per bambini ed adolescenti, ma non è una cosa buona per gli adulti. Gli adulti dovrebbero essere già in grado di esprimere sé stessi e comunicare col mondo. Quindi dovrebbero essere anche in grado di capire il mondo. Tuttavia la maggior parte delle persone difetta nel comprendere il mondo e prova soltanto ad esprimere sé stessa affinché il mondo la comprenda. Questo è un atteggiamento da bambini. Quando si invecchia il cervello si indebolisce e si tende a smettere di ascoltare il mondo. Così si prova solo ad esprimere sé stessi costantemente, in modo che il mondo circostante si adatti al nostro modo di vivere. Questa attitudine rende difficile la convivenza con le persone che si hanno attorno. Tutti invecchiano e ci si deve preparare alla propria vecchiaia. La preparazione più importante è quella di cessare di esprimere sé stessi e provare ad ascoltare gli altri.

Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido passed away on this day in 1969. We would like to express our profound gratitude and respect to O-Sensei for creating the wonderful art of aikido and being the catalyst for the creation of our global Aikido community. Morihei Ueshiba (12/14/1883 - 4/26/1969).

Dear everyone, the video from the funeral ceremony of Doshu is now online on the memorial page - as you will see it was a beautiful day.

As it is in French, Italian, German and English, there is some work to be done with transcription and translations, but it will come.

Update: now there are English subtitles for the French words.
