Bahrain Prathibha Grandmasters Cup to Bring International Chess Talent Together on September 11
Manama: The inaugural Bahrain Prathibha Grandmasters Cup, an international chess tournament jointly organised by the Bahrain Prathibha Manama Zonal Committee, Bahrain Chess Federation and Arjun’s Chess Academy, will be held on September 11, 2026.
The tournament will take place at the Yousif Ahmed Abdulmalik Hall in Galali, bringing together chess players of different ages and nationalities. Participants must be registered with the International Chess Federation (FIDE) and possess valid FIDE identification numbers.
The competition will be conducted in the Rapid format over seven rounds, with attractive prizes for winners across various categories.
The event aims to promote chess in Bahrain, provide players with a competitive platform and identify promising young talent. Bahrain Prathibha officials said the tournament reflects the organisation’s continued efforts to encourage wider participation in chess, particularly among children and young people.
Representatives of the Bahrain Chess Federation praised Bahrain Prathibha’s initiatives and assured their full support for the tournament and future activities.
The event was announced at a press conference attended by Bahrain Chess Federation Treasurer Redha Fathima, Organising Committee Chairman N. V. Livin Kumar, Convener Manoj Paul, Arjun’s Chess Academy Director Arjun, Prathibha Manama Zonal Secretary Rajesh Attachery, President Nubin Ansari and Joint Convener Hridhya Renjith, among others.
Organisers expressed confidence that the tournament will strengthen Bahrain’s chess culture and offer an exciting platform for local and international players.
