RCSI Men’s Basketball Team 2005-2011

The RCSI Men's basketball team was the first RCSI Bahrain team to be established. It started off as a club in 2005, and progressed until its recognition as a team in 2009. In 2010, the RCSI graduated its first student-athlete Abdulhameed Hashim, an original member of the first basketball team. Since then many have followed suit and have gone on to become successful in their professions throughout the world. Perhaps no team has had an impact on RCSI sports as the original basketball team in its early years. Despite starting off without a training facility, coach and sports coordinator, the team managed to organize and participate in tournaments in Qatar, Ireland, and Lebanon, as well as host the first and only international tournament in RCSI's history. Throughout this time it remained a very competitive team, each year winning more games than the previous, until it finally reached its pinnacle in 2011. The 2011 RCSI Lions Men's Basketball team pictured below represents the height of RCSI sports. The legacy they leave behind will never be replicated, but as they have always hoped for, one day, their success will be surpassed by the future generations of RCSI Lions.
