It wasn’t just chess pieces that Bince Rafael Operiano had to face in Thailand. He also had to overcome the pain of being separated from his father, who couldn’t immediately join the trip because they didn’t have enough money for the fare.
Bince is a young chess player who competed in an international tournament in Thailand, where he achieved the No. 1 ranking in the U-10 category.
Getting there was not easy. With limited funds for airfare and other expenses, his family worked hard to find sponsors who could help make the trip possible.
While waiting for their tickets, Bince and his father reportedly spent three nights sleeping at the airport. Eventually, Bince had to travel to Thailand first without his father.
During his first few matches, the sadness was noticeable. He missed his father deeply, and other participants’ parents reportedly saw him crying.
But when his father finally arrived in Thailand, it seemed like Bince’s confidence and courage returned.
From there, he showed his incredible chess skills, defeating players from different countries. In the end, he claimed the No. 1 spot in his category, bringing home one trophy and four medals. 🏆🥇🥈
This is more than just the story of a young chess prodigy. It is a story of family sacrifice, perseverance despite hardship, and the strength that comes from a parent’s presence and support.
Congratulations, Bince! And salute to your father for standing by you every step of the way! 🇵🇭❤️♟️
