Sofia CrossSwords is the first Bulgarian HEMA tournament and one of the biggest on the Balkans. Since 2022 hundreds of fencers from the region and all over Europe have taken part in both our standard and unique competition formats. Since 2023 the event is also open to the public and advertising HEMA competitions to bigger audiences as a spectator combat sport. The third edition of Sofia CrossSword
s is coming on the 2nd and 3rd of November 2024 and it will feature all the previous tournament categories, plus an additional new one. The headline event of Sofia CrossSwords is our unique Longsword Open format, where all fencers are also judges, in a streamline system that leads to better appreciation of all aspects of competition and the most guaranteed fights in any longsword tournament you can find. Our arming sword and sword and buckler categories are a more standard format, but with the weapons provided by the organizers. As always, our choice for arming sword is the well-established SIGI Junior. Multiple Ladies tournaments are also always a feature, and each year we are racing our neighbours about who will get more women into HEMA competitions this time around. The two-day tournament schedule is packed each time to the brim, a wild but satisfyingly exhausting experience.
