🚨 ATTENTION BOROVETS TRAVELLERS FOR NEW YEAR 🚨
Bulgaria’s euro changeover is happening at midnight on 31 Dec → 1 Jan, and ATMs + card payments may stop working for 2–3 hours.
Source: Novinite – national banking systems will pause during the switchover.
Why you MUST carry cash:
ATMs may be completely offline around midnight
Card payments in bars, restaurants, shops, taxis may fail
It will be New Year’s Eve in a busy ski resort — if your card dies, you’ll have no quick alternative
Bottom line:
👉 Withdraw cash earlier in the day
👉 Carry enough for your whole night out
Don’t risk being stuck on New Year’s Eve with a card that won’t work. Stay prepared and enjoy Borovets! 🎿🥂
