Blagoevgrad Griffins The official page of the American Football team Blagoevgrad Griffins AUBG organized a competition for the Griffin logo with a price of 1200 leva.

2003 – For the first time in the history of AUBG teams were organized to experience the sport of American Football. People that undertook the initiative were Danail Shopov and Stanko Stankov.

2004 – The American Football Club in AUBG has been founded by Stanko Stankov who was elected to be president by the General Assembly. The first players were Tenyo Arabadzhiev, Emil Stefanov, Stanko Stankov,

Ivan Batachki, Branimir Bratanov, Mircea Steriu, Pavel Volosciuc, Borislav Valchev, Spasimir Dinev, Stefan Vezenkov, Blagovest Belev, Miroslav Stankov and Vladislav Kovachev.

2005 - On April 1, thanks to Campus Living, the whole team was equiped with jerseys. A month later, the Griffins home page was started by Spasimir Dinev and Stanko Stankov. The club has grew bigger and bigger and by the end of the year the club has more than 20 players

2006 – AFC Griffins start big campaign which brings them additional 30 people and this becomes one of the fastest growing clubs. In the fall of 2006 the first Griffin bowl championship has been organized and the club was divided into 4 different teams. Each team represented one of the colors of the university – white, blue, black, and orange. 2006 was also the year when the official logo of Griffins was designed. This was considered of one of the most successful years of the club. At the end of the year the founder Stanko Stankov has graduated from AUBG, and left the club to the new presidents Plamen Mihailov and Stanislav Marinov

2007 - AFC Griffins continued its championship but only for one more semester. The club found another 20 people but after the first weeks of the semester and championship many people started leaving. In the second semester there wasn’t any championship and only occasional games and practices. In 2007 the club made connections with the newly created professional team in Sofia – Team Sofia. The defensive coach came to AUBG and made a practice for the AFC Griffins.

2008 – In 2008 the club had its new presidents Pavel Georgiev and Konstantin Chalburov. The new presidents decided that there will be no championship and instead there will be only practices and friendly games. During the first semester there were 5 games only 2 of which were attended by audience and had 2 full teams. At the beginning of the second semester AFC Griffins contacted Team Sofia and proposed a friendly Flag Football game. Instead of the game now AFC Griffins is hosting the First National American Flag Football Tournament in Bulgaria.

2009 - The new president of the club was Aleksandar Rakshiev. The club has weekly practices and games.

2010 - With the new president Apostol Apostolov AFC Griffins was doing promotional campaigns and weekly practices with the current and new members. In 2011 the Griffins won the annual Griffins Bowl! A great success and bonding experience for all players.

2011 - The new executive body of the club was elected - Tim Koroteev, Boyan Petkov and Dragomir Lazarov. AFC Griffins got a new field. Since then the team has its practices and games on the baseball field in Bachinovo every week. AFC Griffins took part in the Championship in Sofia.

2020 - The club officially got registered in The Bulgarian Federation of American Football as a non government organization and is recognized by the Bulgarian Government as one.

All profit collected from our amazing Halloween party was generously donated to "Race for the cure Bulgaria" - a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the uneven fight against breast cancer.
