A European Champion and a Vice-European Champion! 🥇🥈
Last week, the European Cadet Championships took place in Athens. The Flemish team was proudly represented by four strong athletes.
On the first day, Torre kicked things off. He won convincingly against Georgia but then had to concede to the eventual European Champion. Liam then fought his way through true thrillers against Moldova and Russia, and with slightly more comfortable victories over Spain and Azerbaijan, he made it all the way to the final. There, he faced Greece and narrowly missed out on claiming another European title. A fantastic silver medal for Liam!
On Friday, it was Alicia Badji’s turn. In her opening match, she swiftly defeated Poland. In the quarterfinal, she faced the Vice-World Champion, and after a tactical battle, Alicia came out on top. She maintained her excellent form throughout, conceding barely any points, accelerating at just the right moments, and dominating her opponents. After an impressive win over Serbia in the semifinals, she crowned her tournament with a brilliant victory against France in the final.

On the final day of the European Championships, Hajar was in action. After a smooth win in her first match, she faced a strong Italian opponent. After a hard-fought battle, she had to acknowledge her opponent’s superiority. A valuable experience gained.
