After 101 official matches with the Red Dragons, Pieter Coolman will retire from top-level volleyball at the end of this season.

A respected leader in the national team for many years, Pieter helped shape an important era for Belgian men’s volleyball, including gold at the 2013 European Golden League.

Thank you for your commitment, your passion and your years in the Red Dragons shirt. Wishing you all the best for what comes next. 👏

After this season, Matthijs Desmet will close the chapter on his professional volleyball career.

With 49 caps for the Belgian senior national team, Matthijs has proudly worn the Red Dragons jersey and represented our country with passion, commitment and professionalism every single time he stepped on court.

“It is not an easy decision, but I want to be honest with myself and step away with pride for everything I experienced in this jersey.”

On behalf of TopVolley Belgium and the Red Dragons, we want to thank Matthijs for his dedication to Belgian volleyball and for every moment he gave to our national colours.

TopVolley Belgium has learned with great sadness that Red Dragons captain Sam Deroo has been diagnosed with an oncological condition and has started chemotherapy.

For many years, Sam has been a pillar of our national team and a role model for young volleyball players. As a federation, we now focus first and foremost on his recovery and offer him all the support we can, together with his family, club and teammates.

The entire Belgian volleyball community stands with Sam in this difficult period and wishes him strength and a full recovery, while respecting his and his family’s privacy. ❤️🏐

Ondanks dat de Dragons zich niet konden verzekeren van het Olympische ticket, is de volleybalwereld eensgezind. We zijn trots op wat de Dragons dit Olympisch kwalificatietoernooi gepresteerd hebben. 💥

We willen hen bedanken om België te laten dromen van de Olympische Spelen, wat vooraf heel moeilijk werd geacht. Merci Red Dragons! 🐲

De Dragons zijn deze ochtend in Zaventem geland en bereiden zich nu voor op hun clubseizoen 💪.
