A lightweight motor better known for powering electric mountain bikes is now heading into the city.

German bike maker Velo De Ville has introduced the Revo-C, an urban commuter ebike built around DJI’s compact Avinox mid-drive system. The motor weighs just 2.52 kg (5.5 lb), yet delivers a hefty 105 Nm (77.4 lb-ft) of torque in its standard modes. For short bursts of acceleration, it can push up to 120 Nm (88.5 lb-ft) in Boost mode for 30 to 60 seconds.

That’s impressive for something this small. For comparison, Bosch’s Performance Line CX Gen 5 weighs 2.8 kg (6.2 lb) and produces 85 Nm (62.9 lb-ft), while TQ’s lighter 1.9-kg (4.2-lb) HPR60 motor delivers 60 Nm (44.25 lb-ft). On paper, the Revo-C offers a strong balance between weight and punch — something commuters may notice when accelerating from traffic lights or climbing hills.

The 250-watt motor can briefly peak at 1,000 watts, but remains street-legal in Europe, where pedal assist cuts off at 25 km/h (15.5 mph). Power comes from a 600-Wh downtube battery, though official range figures haven’t been published.

Tech is integrated neatly into the frame. A built-in Avinox touch display, controlled from the handlebars, shows cadence (RPM), power output, and estimated range. The companion app adds GPS navigation and fitness tracking.

The Revo-C rolls on 28-inch wheels with Schwalbe urban tires, uses Shimano hydraulic disc brakes and 9-speed gearing, and includes a MIK-compatible rear rack rated to 10 kg (22 lb) — handy for groceries or a work bag. The bike itself weighs 23.5 kg (52 lb).

Starting at €3,999 (about US$4,700), the made-to-order ebike is aimed squarely at European riders looking for a clean, customizable city machine with serious torque under the hood.

Een grote stap in de strijd tegen fietsdiefstallen:

Diefstal blijft een heikel punt voor e-bikes, maar Bosch trekt het anti-diefstalnet verder dicht. Gestolen e-bikes kunnen voortaan integraal als gestolen worden gemarkeerd, inclusief alle onderdelen.
