A hard day, followed by a hard day

That’s the only way to describe a recent weekend for our junior women, as they took on La Doyenne for the first junior women’s edition of Liège-Bastogne-Liège, backed up by Gent Wevelgem as was (now In Flanders Fields).

The Ardennes didn’t disappoint, as the course for Liège packed in multiple well-known and hard as climbs, finishing on the iconic La Redoute.

Fantastic rides from the whole team, with claiming a brilliant third place. was really close behind in 5th, while everyone was in and around the top 20. An excellent day in the chair.

The following day we head west to Ypres, where the racing was again hard, but with fewer metres of elevation. was first finisher for us, coming home in 21st, with all the riders acquitting themselves well.

From Belgium, there was hardly time to take a breath before the Tour du Gévaudan…

A tough double header

Last weekend, our junior men set out for Belgium to race the junior Liege-Bastogne-Liege on Saturday, followed by the junior In Flanders Fields (or Gent Wevelgem as it’s always been known).

Two tough races and the formula for a testing weekend.

At Liege, we saw some excellent performances, with .widdowson in an early break and positioning well into the key climbs, before running somewhat out of legs. in a late break that only got caught with 3km to go, and making up significant ground on the La Redoute finish to pick up an excellent 5th place. .delamare was close behind in 9th, while Sam also finished top 20.

On Sunday, tired legs were in evidence, but there was another excellent showing from Gus, following up his Liege ride with a 13th place after multiple ascents of the Kemmelberg.

All in all, a super busy but rewarding weekend, before the boys head onto the Ronde van Vlaanderen in a week’s time

Our junior women head to the south of France this weekend, returning to Mende and the Tour du Gévaudan

It’s gonna be busy

After Liege-Bastogne-Liege we’re straight onto In Flanders Fields (Gent Wevelgem as was, and always will be to us).

Again we have junior women and junior men racing.

We have just a little history in this race, having won the women’s edition for the last three years. No pressure then 😬

A welcome addition

Fantastic to see a new junior women’s edition of La Doyenne, Liege-Bastogne-Liege, where we will be fielding a female and male team this coming weekend.

Between Fensham and Tofauti, we have had two male winners at this race over the last three years (bookending one Paul Seixas), so we’re all in for some Ardennes action.

Another top day of UK racing

Some of the boys headed to Wales for the Cadence Junior National, happily relocated to the old course.

In the break were and , who delivered on the early investment to take first and third at the flag.

Big congrats to Aaron for taking the top step (even though there weren’t any actual, you know, steps). Great to see.

Good rides too from representing Wales and from .obrien_, who got unlucky with a late puncture

Bike racing – a refresher

Sometimes, we all need reminding that bike racing is about fun, seeing your mates and sharing experiences – good and sometimes not so good. But doing all that together.

So, a massive thank you to the folks of for that reminder through an excellent weekend of racing at the Witham Hall Two-Day Junior National race.

And to all their respective parents. It really was great to be smiling and riding bikes. Top rides across the team from everyone.

And the results came – Aalia took 2 wins and the GC, Zoe won the 2 bunch races for the girls, while Gus also took 2 wins and the GC.

Amazing what you can do when you’re having fun.

That said, we feel for and extend our best wishes to the boys who came down in the nasty crash on stage 2 – hope everyone heals well
