The first Royal Brussels player to get picked up in the inaugural EUT20 draft 🏏 🇧🇪

Royal Brussels Cricket Club celebrated their 2025 season with an Awards Dinner at the Taste of Raaj restaurant in Ixelles.

More than 50 members, players, friends and officials were joined by special guests, including Belgium’s national coach Jake Needham. 🇧🇪

The party enjoyed an array of delicious Nepali dishes and re-lived the season as seen through the eyes of 1st XI Captain Muneeb, 2nd XI Captain Channi, Membership Secretary, Arun and Colts Secretary, Dave.

In 2025, RBCC reached the semi-finals of the Division One playoffs, welcomed touring sides from across Europe, saw several players represent Belgium at senior and age group level, went on tour to both the UK and France and welcomed back RBCC alumni from across the world for a ‘sixes’ tournament held as a memorial to former player Chris Stone. 🏏

Awards on the night were presented as follows:

Social Hero – Tipu Sethi
1st XI Batter – Afzal Safi
1st XI Bowler – Sairab Zahid
Breakthrough player of the year – Oliver Herrington
2nd XI Batter – Taha Choudhry
2nd XI Bowler – Atharva Sahasrabudhe
Colts player of the year – Akshat Tripathi
Champagne moment medal- Matthew Feehan-Grant

RBCC 1st XI edge Hasselt by 5 runs! Defending 208 with stunning fielding & big moments—into the BCF Div 1 semis! 🏏🔥🇧🇪

After setting 208 (top scores by Nayhan Khalil 49 and Sairab Zahid 37), our bowlers and fielders held their nerve as Hasselt fell just short at 203. Key moments included AbdulWahid and Afzal Safi’s brilliant run out of Waqas Raja and a sensational diving catch by Nayhan Khalil to dismiss national captain Sheryar Butt.

An incredible team effort and a proud day for our club—onto the next round!

🏏 Stoney’s Big Bash Sixers – Thank You All!

Last weekend (21/06), RBCC proudly hosted the Chris Stone Memorial Trophy 2025—a wonderful celebration of cricket, community, and the memory of our dear friend Chris Stone.

The day was made truly special by the return of many old club legends, some of whom had not visited the club in decades, flying in from places like Boston, Cape Town, Perth, Manila, Geneva, Luxembourg, and the UK. Seeing familiar faces back on the ground brought back so many great memories and reminded us of the deep bonds formed at RBCC over the years.

A heartfelt thanks to Richard Eames and Andrew Scott (Scotty) for umpiring all day in the heat—your contribution didn’t go unnoticed.

To everyone who played, helped out, or simply came to reconnect—thank you. You made this a truly memorable day for the club.
