Orbea / Oquo MTB wheel rebuild

This original Orbea / Oquo MTB wheel came in for a re-truing after multiple spoke/ni**le issues and an additional check-up.

However it has previously been serviced elsewhere considering the two deviating aluminium ni***es, again a ni**le had vibrated completely loose and had dropped into the rim.

Spoke tension generally too low, damaged ni***es due to inappropriate maintenance and unequal spoke tension by arrival.

Furthermore multiple ni***es were stuck resulting in twisted spokes and the risk of more damaged ni***es: even the original brass ni***es broke while gradually reducing spoke tension.

This rear wheel really did need a rebuild with new spokes and ni***es.

An additional service of the DT Swiss 350 Ratchet hubs interior - deep cleaning and regreasing - will keep this hub performing smoothly untill next annual hub maintenance / service.

Once rebuilt completely with equal and increased spoke tension this wheel will remain solid and strong, continously rolling smooth and reliable for many kms…

B2B Commissioned work for Bikeshop.

A complete rebuild of a Giant 35 Tubeless 2 wheelset with the original hookless UD Carbon rim.

Hubswap for more durability, some weight gains and faster engagement after hub/bearing/rotor issues.

Original hub: Giant OEM hub with 3 pawls system (not DT Swiss), hubshell with Classic flanges for J-bend spokes.

New Hub: DT Swiss / Giant OEM Ratchet hubset in Straight Pull design provided by bikeshop.

Rebuilt with new DT Swiss high-end lightweight Aerolite spokes and Pro lock ni***es.
T-head spokehead for these narrower flanges.

Built with 2:1 spoke lacing patern.
Spoke crossings with contact.

Ready for many fast(er) rides…

Some TLC for this Campagnolo Bora Ultra WTO 45.
Unfortunatally I only took pictures of the dismounted front hub and its internals.
For sure the rear wheel was given the same love …

• deep cleaning of hubshell inside
• deep cleaning of small internal parts by ultrasone
• cleaning of Ceramic balls with Ceramic speed UFO Clean followed by the ultrasone bath.
• regreasing these Ceramic balls with Ceramic Speed Grease. With our harsh Belgian weather and the spring classics in mind we opted for the Long Life type Grease.
• Finally Finetuning bearing play for the least friction …

Marginal gains for this Roval Alpinist CLX.

Came in for bearing upgrade to replace the original standard bearings by low friction ceramic bearings.
As this is actually a DT Swiss 240EXP hub designed for OEM branded Roval / Specialized production, we opted for the DT Swiss SINC Ceramic bearings as used in DT Swiss high end 180 hub series.

Deep clean of the hubshells, the hub internals, a complete rebuilt of the hubs applying specific grease. Topped with a more machined rotor upgrade with the same SINC Ceramic bearings.

For the weightweenies I added the illustration of the marginal weight gains.
Also check out the difference between the way both rotors are machined as well as the end cap.

As always brake disc rotors and cassette are mounted using professional torque wrench… CLICK 👌
