Joe Frazier was pretty much blind in one eye for his entire boxing career, and it played a major role in shaping his up close pressure fighting style.
An accident in childhood left him with severe damage to his left eye. By the time he turned professional, many commissions would not have cleared him to fight if they had known the truth.
Fighting at close range reduced what he needed to see. Constant pressure, forward movement, and short exchanges allowed him to rely on timing, feel, and instinct rather than clear vision from distance.
Frazier memorised eye charts. He learned where to stand. He turned his head slightly so officials would not notice. He did whatever was necessary because boxing was not something he wanted to do, it was something he had to do.
Inside the ring, he fought close, applied relentless pressure, and trusted toughness and timing over sight.
Despite that limitation, he became heavyweight champion of the world and handed Muhammad Ali his first defeat.
Joe Frazier became a legend by refusing to accept limits. What a man!
