Makes Rugby History as First Female Referee in Men’s 🙌🏉

History was made this weekend as Scottish referee Hollie Davidson became the first woman ever to take charge of a men’s Six Nations match, officiating Ireland’s clash with Italy on Saturday. 👏

The 33-year-old former scrum-half has come a long way since she first swapped playing for refereeing back in 2015 — a move that even meant taking a 50% pay cut to pursue her dream.

But Hollie’s journey hasn’t been easy. Over the years, she’s spoken openly about the harassment and abuse she endured as a female official — being spat on, having objects thrown at her, and even needing police es**rt protection after some matches.

“The stuff shouted from the sidelines was ridiculous,” Hollie once recalled. “It was all about where I should be instead of a pitch, or that I should be doing other things with my Saturday than refereeing a game.”

Despite the challenges, Hollie refused to give in to the critics. On Saturday, she stood proudly as the first woman to referee a men’s Six Nations game — a powerful milestone that will no doubt inspire countless women and girls across the rugby world.
