Als personal trainer werk ik graag met gemotiveerde cliënten die graag fitter, gezonder en sterker willen worden op een efficiënte, veilige en verantwoorde manier. Door mijn ervaring met personen op alle niveaus kan ik jouw fitness- of trainingstraject probleemloos aanpassen, binnen jouw individuele capaciteiten en / of beperkingen, om zo snel mogelijk optimale resultaten te behalen zonder blessures. Deze sessies vinden plaats in mijn persoonlijke splinternieuwe gym in Loppem net buiten Brugge, die toestellen en materiaal heeft van hoge kwaliteit. Zo kun je comfortabel trainen in een rustige, private en hygiënische fitness ruimte. Mijn methode bestaat eruit dat je niet enkel slim en efficiënt traint maar ook de basis principes van trainingsleer, herstel en voeding begrijpt zodat je zelf leert wat je lichaam kan en vereist om een betere lichaamscompositie en prestaties te bereiken. Zo bereik je optimale resultaten, beter lichaamsbewustzijn, wat wel of niet werkt en hoe op een gezonde manier vooruitgang te boeken.

Every man should do some type of martial arts in his life to realize how vulnerable you are without any form of skill. It’s eye opening. Don’t count on the world to keep you safe.

Belgium… A great place to live due to our systems, location in the world and more. But due to our excellent systems, people have forgotten how much worse others have it in other places in the world. It has led us to be naive and think bad things won’t happen to ourselves. When bad things happen to others, too many people turn a blind eye.

When something happens, how many will stand up for each other? How many people will confront a person on the street doing the wrong thing? Not many. We need this to change and this conversation is just one reason of many.

Women do not feel safe. As Soundos said: women are afraid to be assaulted or r*ped too frequently. And we need to step up to change this. We all need to take more action and do better.

Side note: I started a vzw (non profit) for self defense workshops and put some dates together. Wrote emails and letters to colleges, high schools, youth organizations, businesses etc. Got the website traffic and got in touch with a big targeted demographic. I got one person to sign up…

What does that teach us? You can’t simply wait for others to fix the problems for us (a common cultural problem in Belgium). Another habit is to feel easily personally attacked and shift the blame to others. Cut it out, we need to do better. All of us, men and women alike. We all need to fix this problem to create a safer environment (within this context as well as others). That does mean we all need to take a hard look at ourselves and figure out how we can grow and improve. Our culture loves to complain but on a daily basis, how often do you see people actually taking initiative or fixing problems? Some obviously do and they need to be supported. Most don’t… Not criticism, just stating the facts.

Your physicality is one of the few things you can control. When things feel out of touch or overwhelming, taking control over your own performance can feel like a relief.

Might as well get strong and healthy so you can at least run fast and carry heavy stuff.

Hyrox Open Solo: the good and the bad.

Good:
- Made my goal time (1h13min58sec active time)
- Paced well and didn’t blow up
- Got 3rd fastest time on the sled pulls

Bad:
- Picked up a 2 minute penalty (probably the in / out arch which are close together but cannot remember at all).
- I have to train with the sleds, skiers and rower to shave off more time (currently don’t have access to these).

Next up: Hyrox Pro division 40-45 years old. Work on some things to save time and get used to the heavier weights. Also lean out a bit more for the event to save energy as 99kgs is a lot of weight to throw around 🦍

Let’s not beat around the bush (see, another great example): the cultural norms between places are extremely different and along with different language structure, habits and even own experiences, you end up expressing yourself very differently when switching languages as a bicultural bilingual person.

It’s an interesting thing. First time I heard about it was by Trevor Noah and it rang a bell.

So sorry Flemish people if I’m upfront and direct, they’re habits… you’re a bit more fragile than the average American, I’ll try to do better 😆
