IANTD — Gear Prep Tips for Your Next Dive Trip
✨ Getting ready for your next underwater adventure?
Before you hit the water, take a moment to check your gear. Proper preparation means more comfort, more safety, and fewer headaches when the trip starts. Here are some essential tips:
🔧 1. Full regulator inspection
Check hoses, o-rings, and any signs of wear. If your annual service is overdue, bring it to an authorized technician for preventive maintenance.
💨 2. Check your BCD and weights
Make sure the inflator is working smoothly and the quick-release system is functioning properly. Inspect seams and air cells for leaks or damage.
👓 3. Mask, snorkel, and fins
Check fit, straps, clips, and any signs of dry rot. Small details can save you from big problems on the first dive.
🧽 4. Cleaning and storage
Rinse everything with fresh water, let it dry in the shade, and store it in a ventilated place. Avoid compressing or folding gear for long periods.
🔋 5. Electronics and lights
Test your dive computer, lights, chargers, and backup batteries. Replace old batteries to avoid surprises underwater.
🎒 6. Final pre-trip checklist
Prepare a list: certification cards, logbook, spare parts, tools, and small repair kits.
🌊 Take care of your equipment — it’s a key part of your safety.
IANTD encourages all divers to keep their gear inspected and ready for every new adventure.
