Calling all Chess enthusiasts 🏆 !

After the success of the Optiver Chess Championship earlier this year, we are thrilled to announce our second addition in 2024! All students currently studying in Europe and the UK, have the chance to play against one the chess greats, Anish Giri, at a live final in our HQ in Amsterdam, on the 29th February.

Details below:

- Virtual Qualifiers: Start on January 15, 2024
- Live Finals: February 29, 2024, at our Amsterdam HQ
💫 Those selected for the 29th will be given an all expenses paid trip to Amsterdam!

Eligibility:
- Open to current university students in the UK and EU.
- Ensure you have the necessary travel documents to attend the live event.

Whether you're an aspiring Grandmaster or a passionate enthusiast, we invite you to join this extraordinary event. Let's make this a championship to remember!

Volgende week donderdagavond om 20:00 uur vindt er een online schaaktoernooi plaats waarin verschillende studentensteden het tegen elkaar opnemen. Wij willen als Leuven natuurlijk bewijzen dat we de beste schakers hebben en hebben daarom jullie hulp nodig.

Als je een student bent in Leuven en de schaakregels beheerst, kun je meedoen aan ons team op Lichess. Het enige wat je hoeft te doen is het invullen van een Google-formulier (

Next Thursday evening at 8:00 pm, an online chess tournament will be held, pitting students from different cities against each other to determine which is the best. We, the Leuven students, want to prove that we have the best chess players and we need your help.

If you're a student in Leuven and know the rules of chess, you can join our team on Lichess. All you have to do is fill out a Google form (

Attention all chess enthusiasts! Get ready to flex your mental muscles as we're excited to announce a thrilling chess tournament happening at MTC 00.12 on April 26th at 8 PM. We're organizing this tournament to bring together like-minded individuals who are passionate about chess and love a good challenge.

As we did in our previous tournament, we will be splitting the participants into two groups based on their skill level. This will ensure that everyone has a fair chance to compete against players of their own caliber. To make this tournament a success, we need your help. We kindly ask all participants to fill in the survey to let us
know your skill level and help us to create balanced groups.

We also want to let everyone know that the entry fee for this exciting chess tournament is just €5 in cash. This small fee will be used to cover the cost of organizing the tournament and providing prizes for the winners. Speaking of prizes, the top players will not only earn the respect and admiration of their fellow competitors but also a share of the prize money. The amount will be determined by the number of participants and will be divided between the first two or three placed players, depending on the size of the groups.

We're happy to announce that, in addition to the exciting tournament and cash prizes, we're keeping the beer prices low! That's right, you can still enjoy a refreshing beer for just €0.5 during the tournament. So, not only will you have the chance to show off your chess skills and win prizes, but you can also sit back, relax, and enjoy a cold one without breaking the bank. We hope to see you at MTC 00.12 on April 26th at 8 PM, ready to play some chess and enjoy a drink with fellow chess enthusiasts.

So, are you ready to show off your chess skills and outsmart your opponents? Be prepared to get those brains working! We can't wait to see you there!

We want to thank everyone for the amazing evening we've had!
We hope we will see you all next semester again!

We also want to promote the Chess & Chill weekend that will take place from 3-5 February!

It will be a weekend full of chess fun and conviviality, especially for students!

Hi Chesslovers, unfortunately we have some bad news, there will be NO chess event this Thursday.

But luckily we also have amazing news! On Thursday 8th December we will host a tournament! Everyone who wants to experience a first chess tournament is welcome, ofcourse the more advanced Chesslovers are also welcome!

What do you have to do?

First of all, please complete the following extremely short survey to register you! With this we want to make two groups, one for the beginners and one for the advanced players.
Secondly we would ask € 5 to participate, which will be given in cash on the day itself. With this money two or three rewards per category will be given, depending on the number of participants.
Lastly we want to see you on Thursday 8 December at 20h sharp in MTC 00.12!

Most important note : the beer remains at 50 cents!
