2025 is coming to an end — and we’re closing the year by zooming out on a question that keeps coming back in modern football ⚽️ (or soccer for our American friends)

Is technical skill still enough?
In our latest podcast episode, “Beyond Technical Skill: Decoding the Physical Profile of the Modern Footballer”, our intern and sports scientist Nash takes you on a journey through the physical demands of today’s game:
- acceleration
- maximum speed
- deceleration

Using insights from the LEDSREACT Pro manual — a soccer-specific white paper, we explain how objective data can be used to build a complete physical player profile, relevant for both European football and US soccer.

How accurate is the Ledsreact Pro?
It’s a question we often get and now we have independent, academic validation to back our claims.
Ghent University (prof. dr. Veerle Segers and Lennert Van der Meulen) put our technology to the test in a peer-reviewed study comparing Ledsreact Pro data with the gold standard in motion capture: Vicon.
The result? 99.1% agreement in change of direction (COD) testing!
