RACE REPORT!

Two weeks ago I did another Sprint Race at Motorsportschool Zolder. The weather was perfect and I was very motivated to race and put up a good result. The day was a bit up and down.

It started off with the qualifying sessions in de morning. I used some older tyres but the feeling was not great. The bikes did not want to turn on the first touch of the throttle. I had the feeling there was not enough weight on the front tyre and therefor it did not want to turn. P10 for the qualy with a time of 1:42.184. I was very dissapointed because I know I can do better.

We did some minor adjustments together with my trusted suspension guru Carlo Briers and some fresh rubber. Now it was fingers crossed for Race1.

Race 1 was not good. Same problem as on qualifying. Damnit! I could not gain any positions. In fact I lost some. I finished P12 and could not even improve on the qualifying time.
What a bummer. Time for some bigger adjustments! Again thanks to my man Briers Carlo Motorservice.

Race 2 here we go. Same tyres but a bigger change on the suspension. YES the bike wants to turn! I could feel it already in the warm up laps. TIME TO RACE!!!
I felt very good in the race, no positions lost and a best time of 1:40.495. Still not my PB but a lot better feeling. Finished in P9! Very happy that I could finish the day on a good note.

WHAT A WEEK with Dennis and the RED Project Bike.

Lot's of up and downs.

I started the week with a training day on Monday with Circuitfun.be at Mettet. I decided to train with very old and used tyres so an improvement of our best time was very unlikely but we came close. Overal it was a very enjoyable day with a good atmosphere and some nice riding. I had a good feeling with the bike and felt ready for the first Sprint race with Motorsportschool Zolder on thursday.

Thursday came and the forecast was thunderstorms. Oh boy. What an unlucky day to do a Race. I never changed so many tyres in one day. First training session was wet, the second training session was dry.
Then Race 1. It looked like we were going to get lucky. Brand new Pirelli slicks were fitted and I was ready to go. Ten minutes before the start a big sand storm came by with a lot of dirt. Then it calmed down and we were going to race. Two minutes before the race, everybody lined up and a big rain shower hit the track. Confusion! A lot of people went back to their box and some stayed. They started the race on slicks!🤨 We decided not to race since I did not have enough time to change tyres. Some other guys were lucky that they had enough people around them to do quick tyre changes. Just a bummer for us.

Race 2. WET Race. The first time ever. It was a very long time ago since we had some decent wet weather racing. So we were going to be careful. We started off good but then in the middle of the race people were starting to crash and I started to get a strange feeling on the bike. The rear of the bike was feeling very loose and I was starting to loose the rear on corner exit a couple of times. I slowed down a bit because I was loosing confidence. A lot of riders passed me and then I decided it was safer to retire.
Another bummer.

So maybe not the end result I wanted but I'm very happy I could bring my bike home in one piece.
Let's work on the WET setup on the bike and be more ready for the next time.

SHORT ENDURANCE REPORT!

Last minute we decided to participate with the RED Project and WHITE Project bike at the first Short Endurance Race at Motorsportschool Zolder of the season. The goal was to have FUN and finish the race!

Conditions were absolutely perfect. A warm nice sunny day and the track was getting nice and grippy for the race. We had a good starting position (P12) and were ready for the race. For Brian it was the first time competing so there was some stress for sure but he handled it like a BOSS. The stress was very positive for him because he was able to better his PR time with 8 secondes. The guy is improving fast!
Dennis was very happy also as he could do very consistent laps and gained a good feeling with the Pirelli SC1 rear slick tyre.

We had both a lot of fun and we could finish the race with not much hassle so our day was perfect.

As always we want to thank everyone that helps us with our bikes and performance.

The first real training day of 2022 is done. So nice to be back on track with Motorsportschool Zolder and straight away with a good feeling.
We took the time to feel out the bike after the engine had been completely revised and was so surprised by the smoothness of it. Very easy to handle.
We were also running the Sarah Vande Berg Tennis & Wellness Center logo on the bike today in support of a good friend Pascal Collard. We hope this gets a nice place there in Florida.

Up next we will be doing one Short Endurance race with Brian De Clerck on the WHITE project bike. And with that we can be fully prepared for the upcoming Sprint Races.

Eerste geslaagde training van het jaar op Croix (na 4 pogingen😅)
Probleempjes van mijn nieuwe brommer zijn opgelost.
Vertrouwen begint er in te komen en dus ook het plezier. Een KANON van een brommer!
Meteen mijne PR verbeterd met 2 sec😇
