SBS Studbook - Belgian Sport Horse - North America

SBS Studbook - Belgian Sport Horse - North America "There would be no exciting horse competitions without quality horses" Thus, in 1930, the name of the Society was changed to the “Belgian Half-Blood”.

In 1920, the “Society for Encouraging the Breeding of Horses” for the Army was established. While the primary aim was to mount the Belgian Army, some breeders sought to produce lighter, more elegant saddle horses, by using “blood”. By the end of the Second World War, only a few mares and some trotter stallions were left, so breeders worked diligently to rebuild breeding farms and develop new ones.

With equestrian sports becoming more popular by mid-19th century, breeders worked to improve their breeding programs by importing mares and stallions from around Europe, but in particular from France. By 1967, as a reward for the efforts and results obtained over the last half century, the Association becomes the “Royal Society”.

𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 ✨ – Final Chapter: New York
On the 9th of September, the SBS Team made it to the final state on its Inspection Tour 2025 list: New York! The day began at Marin Farm in Harpursville with a few inspections and a special first — the inspection of our very first U.S.-based pony stallions.

The elegant filly T-CONSTANCE VAN DE MARIN (Borsalino x Broken Vow xx) earned herself a Premium title with 48.5 points, impressing the judges with her expressive movement and harmonious conformation.

First stallion to enter the arena was WILDZANG’S SEREN GETI (Beschenhof Darwin x Den Bramel’s Rio), a charismatic 9-year-old chestnut presented at liberty and in the jump chute. With a beautiful type, loads of energy, and solid technique, he was rewarded with 51 points, including a 9 for type and an 8.5 for jumping technique, earning a well-deserved Premium title and provisional SBS breeding approval, along with an “A” for sports.
Following him was CASPARI ROYALE’S VAN PRINSENHOF’S (Anjershof Shadok x Caspari Royale), a dressage-oriented stallion who charmed everyone with his harmonious build and expressive gaits. With no scores below 9 and a powerful, balanced presentation, he earned 54 points and an “A” for sports, also securing his Premium title and provisional approval. If these two stallions are any indication, the future of SBS ponies in the U.S. looks very bright.

The team then headed to Flatbird Stable in Hyde Park for the final inspection site of the tour, where a 3-year-old mare and two foals closed out the day in style.
Dressage mare SANORY (Lord Romantic x Metall) impressed with her elegance, elasticity, and movement, earning 52 points including a remarkable 9.5 for both trot and canter. Sharing the top score of the day was the foal T-CRITICAL THINKER (El Torreo de Muze x Tinka’s Boy), praised for his well-balanced and powerful canter, expressive movement, and chic type.
Wrapping up the Tour was T-CORTADO (Bamako de Muze x Tinka’s Boy), who earned 49.5 points, with highlights including great bone structure, a strong frame, and an active canter with engaged hindquarters.

✨️

From coast to coast, the SBS Team witnessed an exceptional level of quality in both sport horses and ponies. With an impressive number of Premium titles awarded, this year’s tour reflected the outstanding breeding standards and unwavering commitment of our U.S. breeders.

A recap of the 2025 Tour will follow soon — but until then, thank you to every farm, breeder, rider, and handler who made this journey so successful. What a season, and what a future ahead!

𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 ✨

It was a lovely afternoon at Marabet Farm, where the SBS Team was warmly welcomed for a dynamic inspection day featuring the registration of seven foals and the inspection of eight participants — six foals and two enthusiastic 3-year-old stallion candidates.

The fillies took center stage, starting with TRUTH M (Carry On MF x Bliss MF), who wowed the judges with her expressive movement and powerful gaits, scoring 9s for both trot and canter and earning the highest score of the day with an impressive 52 points. Right behind her was T-QUOTE ME M (Bliss MF x Qaterback), a supple and harmonious young filly who earned 51 points with a particularly noteworthy trot. Third place went to T-CARD SHARK M (Carry On MF x Glasgow van’t Merelsnest), a c**t praised for his strong bone structure and natural impulsion, earning 49.5 points — all three youngsters proudly taking home the Premium title.

The afternoon continued with the stallion inspections, and both candidates brought not only quality but serious enthusiasm to the jump chute. Q-FABALOU M (Fabriano VDL x Balou du Rouet) impressed with his refined type, balanced conformation, and great movement, earning a 9 for his jumping technique and powerful use of his back, with an overall score of 51 points. Q-MAKE ME SHINE M (Alesi 7 x Bliss MF) showed off his strength and movement, collecting 9s for walk and trot and scoring consistently across the board, earning a 50,5 overall score.

Both stallions received Provisional SBS Breeding Approval and were awarded the Premium title, confirming their bright futures as sport and breeding prospects.

A heartfelt thank you to the entire Marabet Farm team, whose support and good spirits made the day run smoothly from start to finish.

𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 ✨

On September 5th, the SBS Team visited Stone Columns Stable for a stallion inspection — and it did not disappoint.

Presented under saddle by Melanie Peterson Ramey, the impressive 4-year-old VICTUS VD (Blue Hors Farrell x Glock's Zonik) captivated the judges from the first stride. With no score below a 9, and an outstanding 9.5 for both Type and Walk, this refined and harmonious young stallion showcased everything you want to see in a modern dressage athlete: correct conformation, remarkable elasticity, and natural balance, all delivered with an exceptional temperament.

His 55-point total for Conformation and Movement, combined with an ‘A’ for Sport, officially makes VICTUS VD HORNE the highest-scoring stallion of the 2025 Tour — a title well earned. He obtained his provisional SBS Breeding approval alongside a Premium title.

We’re very much looking forward to following his progress as he continues his journey in sport.

𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 ✨

Fresh off the plane, the SBS Team headed straight to Honey Suckle Hill Farm, Lexington for the first of three Kentucky stops, to register two foals and inspect a mare, a 2YO and a yearling. Every horse inspected earned the Premium title, once again proving the outstanding level of breeding coming out of the US.

Top score of the day went to the elegant Irish mare KILFARISSEY LOOKS LIKE A LADY (Simba x Heartbreaker) who impressed with 51.5 points, earning 9s for both her conformation and powerful canter. She passed down that brilliance to her c**t TWENDE (Cumthago x Simba), who matched her canter score and earned a very solid 50.5 points overall.

Taking third place was the energetic 2-year-old R-ACCESSORIZE (Amazing x Ilian de Taute) with 49 points, and adding some flair to the day was the flashy and charming c**t THIBAUT (Grimoire d’Elphen x Holberg), presented for registration only — but certainly making his presence known.

A strong start to our Kentucky chapter, before flying to NY, the last state for the very last leg of this Inspection Tour 2025 !

It was a full and lively day at Rising Star Farms in Silver Creek, Georgia, where 13 horses were presented for inspection — a dynamic mix of stallions, seven foals, a yearling, and a two-year-old.

The day kicked off with the stallion inspections, starting strong with the stunning 5-year-old palomino KISS OF GOLD-J (Burberry 9 x Aramir), owned by Ashley Adler. With 48.5 points for Conformation and Movement, and all 9s for Dressage, Jumping, and Rideability, earning a Premium title – a shining start, quite literally.

Next up was the 3-year-old QUANTUM F (Velusinus to the Moon x Cardento), another Premium who scored 52.5 points, including 9s for his conformation, walk, and trot. Following him, Q-ESCENTHAL CH, bred by Donna Belcher, showed off his athleticism and jumping technique, earning 48.5 points and a Premium title. All stallions received temporary SBS Breeding Approval, and we’re looking forward to seeing them excel further in sport.

Then came the foals, and they absolutely delivered — reshuffling the leaderboard in dramatic fashion. TIE BREAKER (Casquino x Action Breaker), bred and owned by Gold Crown Jumpers, lived up to his name and then some with an extraordinary 53.5 points, becoming the new top-scoring foal of the Tour. Not to be outshone, TUVALU R (Con Capilot x Mezcalero) took over as the top-scoring filly with 52.5 points.

Second place among fillies went to TRILLIUM R (Casquino x No Limit) with 52 points, and third to the youngest foal of the Tour, TESSA HSH (Con Capilot x Diabolo d’Esquelmes), bred by Haddon Sport Horses, who scored a strong 51 points.

All in all, it was a striking day in Silver Creek, with 9 Premium titles awarded under the Georgia sun.

August 29th was a full day of sunshine, inspections, and standout young horses — all in Reddick, FL.

The morning kicked off at Oak Grove Farm, where two yearlings and a 4-year-old mare were registered. From there, the team drove to Willow Tree Warmblood for an inspection session with four foals and three mares under the spotlight.

Among the foals, TOBIAS WTW (Usandro Tilia Derlenn x Storm and a Half xx) stole the show with 51 points, including a brilliant 9 for his canter — tying him with THUNDERSTRUCK LS as the top-scoring c**t of the tour so far! Hot on his heels, TIGERLILY WTW (Malito de Reve x Crown Z) scored 49.5 points, impressing with a 9 for both her type and trot. With six Premium titles awarded throughout the day, Reddick certainly delivered.

Stay tuned — the Florida heat isn’t cooling down just yet!

Day 3 – Ocala & Williston, FL
After a long day of travel, the SBS team finally touched down in sunny Florida on August 28th, ready to dive into inspections in Ocala and Williston.

First stop: Oakmore Equestrian, where it was all about girl power with two fillies and one mare under the spotlight. Both fillies earned the coveted Premium title, and T VALENTINE’S ROSE (Apiro x Coroado) joined the elite club of high-scoring fillies with a brilliant 52-point score — three fillies are now in for the tie, but as we say, third time’s the charm! Not to be outdone, the outstanding mare QUICK TO LISTEN (Erato M x Calippo) impressed with a remarkable 54 points, marking a tie with SBS approved stallion LSS LORD CHACCO (Chacco Blue x Toulon) for the top score of the Tour.
The young horses of this 2025 edition are certainly raising the bar — some so much that our judge was ready to pack a few in their suitcase!

Second stop: the beautiful Ravens Nest South Sport Horses in Williston. A perfect opportunity to catch up with some familiar faces and see how last year’s foals have grown. Two yearlings who missed inspection last year, SAY YOU WILL RN (Citadel VS x Balta'Czar) and SELESTIAL BLUE RN (Chacco Blue III x Diarado), made their debut — and despite the typical "awkward yearling phase," SELESTIAL BLUE RN scored a solid 49 points, earning a Premium title and catching the judge’s eye as a promising future stallion prospect. Rounding off the day, the flashy c**t T.SAMOURAI DU CŒUR RN (Silvester Van’t Ameldonk Z x Carrasca Z) wowed the judge with his incredible canter and secured 48 points — yet another Premium title for the day.

Florida is off to a strong start — stay tuned for more from the Sunshine State! ☀️

For the second stop of the SBS Inspection Tour 2025, the SBS team flew to Byhalia, Mississippi, hosted by Sterling Elite Sporthorses.

On the schedule: the registration and inspection of three promising fillies — and what a trio! All three passed with flying colours, each earning the coveted Premium title with remarkable scores.

TI AMO SES (Conthargos x Quick Star) stood out with the top score of the site, placing her on par with TIGER LILY LS (Kentucky van’t Ruytershof x Quality Time TN) as the highest scoring filly of the tour so far, with 52 points. TRUE BLUE SES (LSS Lord Chacco x Louis) followed closely with 51 points, and TAKARA SES (Mylord Carthago x Coltaire Z) completed the podium with a solid 49 points.

Our judge also had the pleasure of seeing LSS LORD CHACCO (Chacco-Blue x Toulon) again, this time under saddle. Temporarily approved in 2024, the now 5-year-old stallion made a strong case for himself with an exceptionnal final score of 54 points, including a string of 9s across the board. A performance that truly confirmed his potential.

The day wrapped up with a field tour to check on some of the previously registered horses, yearlings, and the latest additions to their breeding program.

Next stop already in sight… See you in 2026, Sterling Elites Sporthorses !
