Two years of marriage. 🤍
Although, if we're being honest... we've already been walking through life together for more than eleven years now.
For our wedding, we choose two photographers who happened to be twins, just like my own sisters that I love so much 💖. Somehow, that felt meant to be.
What touched me even more was how differently they each saw us when we received the photos.
One captured our laughter, movement, lightness, and all the little moments of spontaneity that make us be us.
The other found the quiet poetry. The artistry. The softness. Maybe even a touch of saudade.
It reminded me so much of Yin and Yang. In a way, that's us too.
Some days one of us is the Yin, holding space, bringing calm and tenderness. Other days, one becomes the Yang, bringing movement, strength, and light. We constantly exchange roles, finding balance in one another. We never know each day what role we need ro play.
And perhaps that's why these photographs feel so special to me.They don't tell two different stories, they tell the same story from two different hearts, two different eyes.
Maybe that's also the island girl in me trying to overanalyse and find magic everywhere. It's hard to understand, but I've come to believe that you can leave an island, but the island never really leaves you. It stays in the way you love, the way you remember, in the way you live. There is always a little poetry, a little longing, a little saudade, a little sadness.
Thank you both Twin Lens Photography for seeing us so beautifully, each through your own unique lens.
Thank you to my sisters who helped me through it all 💖 小島 こうすけ
