But today! And 1h59'30" 😳 Amazing performance!!

Sabastian Sawe made history at the TCS London Marathon by becoming the first man to officially break two hours for the distance, winning the World Athletics Platinum Label road race in a world record* of 1:59:30.

Ever feel like your breath is just... stuck?

Like no matter what you do, Whether you're at home or at work, you just can't seem to get that one good, satisfying, full breath in?

Often it might be related to excess tension. In your shoulders, your upper body, your diaphragm — it all builds up and before you know it, your breathing muscles are s tight your lungs barely have room to expand.

But here's something most people don't realize — our whole idea of "breathing deeply" is kind of off.

A deep breath isn't loud. It's not some big forceful inhale.

It's actually the opposite.

A deep breath is quiet, gentle, soft, slow, and ideally through your nose.

Here's how to reset:

Start by exhaling a little longer than usual.

Then gently begin to inhale — and imagine oxygen filling your entire body. Starting from your toes, your feet, your ankles… all the way up to the top of your head.

Take your time. Each breath can last up to 10 seconds.

If it feels good, you can hold for a few counts before releasing.

Repeat a few times. Go slow.

Not only will this improve the mobility and strength of your breathing muscles — you'll rediscover what it feels like to take a truly deep, refreshing, and calming breath

Fitheid, kracht en uithoudingsvermogen worden dikwijls gezien als doel op zich.

Er wordt gelopen om gezondheidsredenen, voor een persoonlijk record op de volgende wedstrijd of om er goed uit te zien.

Toch zie ik tegenwoordig ook een positieve verschuiving. Fitness, fysieke vaardigheden en lopen worden meer en meer gebruikt als middel om ervaringen op te doen, avonturen te beleven en/of als sociale bezigheid. , weet je wel ;)

Ook op zoek naar beleving boven prestatie en toch met het voldane gevoel en wat spierpijn naar huis gaan?

Wees welkom op onze maandelijkse of onze jaarlijkse .bxl marathon, dit jaar op zondag 10 mei.

Lopen is altijd een beetje op reis gaan. Op ontdekkingstocht. Ook al heb je een vaste route door de stad, je dorp of het park. Telkens opnieuw ziet alles er anders uit, heb je oog voor andere dingen, grote veranderingen, kleine veranderingen.
Lopen is ook ideaal om een nieuwe omgeving te verkennen, in je hoofd een gebied in kaart te brengen of om het glooiend landschap aan den lijve te ondervinden.

Loop gerust eens verloren. Verdwaal en raak de weg kwijt. Het avontuur zit soms in een klein hoekje.

More than 10 years ago, my friend and running legend invited me over to Denmark to come and run Denmark's toughest, but also one of Denmark's prettiest marathon.

Time flys and I ran out of excuses.
So here we are, sharing some pictures of the journey.

From marking part of the route (not often you get to mark your own race) to the unexpected cold water plunge in the frozen Lake Almindsø, near Silkeborg.

The Thy race started under the old lighthouse in Lodbjerg and ran through forest, in wetlands, over dunes, in loose sand and finished about 43km later in the iconic, misty surfers town of Klitmøller.

It was a fun race, cold weather but warm atmosphere.

Highly recommend it. It's the perfect way to explore what Thy national park has to offer.

When we get together for a running session, it is important to know where you are now and where you want to go to achieve your goals.

Even more important is to start feeling.
To feel what happens when you run.
Where, when and how does your foot hit the ground, what happens next?

I invite you to run backwards, I let you run forwards, I challenge you to pound the ground, I make you land softly. I will show you the way to the key. 🔑

You will open the door and run with unshackled freedom. 💥

After our session, you'll be 'running' home with greater body awareness, more perception, a better feeling for running and a plan to further explore and expand this feeling so that you can run faster and further with great pleasure, towards your next adventure.

Between Christmas feasts and new year dips I had the opportunity to spend a day with the great movement and running coach .benzie.

Looking at my own running technique with a new pair of eyes. Establishing new layers of perception, talking elasticity and discussing complexity.

We covered a lot but we were only scratching the surface. Looking forward to our next meeting.
