The Sabena Aeroclub is proud to announce the arrival of its newest fleet member, the Tecnam P2008 JC, which landed yesterday afternoon at Grimbergen (EBGB). This marks a historic moment for the club, as it is the first brand-new aircraft to join its fleet in decades. The Tecnam P2008 JC—a sleek, modern, and environmentally conscious two-seater—is set to enhance training opportunities and contribute to a sustainable future for aviation enthusiasts.
The ferry flight, which originated in Capua, Italy, where the aircraft was manufactured, took five days to complete. Weather conditions along the route presented challenges, but the journey concluded successfully, with the aircraft touching down at its new home to the delight of the club members.
“The arrival of this aircraft is a monumental step forward for the Sabena Aeroclub,” said Quinten Ampe, Head of Training. “The Tecnam P2008 JC features a state-of-the-art Garmin G3X Touch glass cockpit, which will provide our student pilots with hands-on experience in modern avionics from the very beginning of their training. This investment underscores our commitment to equipping future pilots with the skills and tools they need for a successful aviation career, whether flying as a hobby or continuing professionally.”
Paul Taks, president of the Sabena Aeroclub, also highlighted the broader significance of this addition. “This is more than just a new aircraft—it’s a testament to our dedication to the future of aviation and the role of the aeroclub as a community hub. The Tecnam P2008 JC represents innovation, sustainability, and respect for our neighbours and environment. We couldn’t be prouder.”
The Tecnam P2008 JC is powered by a Rotax engine, consuming just 20 Liters of unleaded fuel per hour. This not only reduces operating costs but also minimizes the aircraft’s carbon footprint compared to older models. Additionally, the aircraft is more quiet which is a crucial consideration for maintaining good relationships with the airfield’s neighbours.
Equipped with cutting-edge avionics and efficient performance characteristics, the Tecnam P2008 JC is ideally suited for flight training. The inclusion of a glass cockpit offers students invaluable exposure to the technology prevalent in today’s aviation industry. Its modern design and reliability will also allow the aeroclub to attract new members.
The addition of the Tecnam P2008 JC is a significant milestone for the Sabena Aeroclub, symbolizing progress and a bright future. As the aircraft begins its journey in training and community engagement, the club looks forward to a new chapter of aviation excellence and sustainability.
