ESP/28370 - Chinchón: the M315, my favourite "carretera", a small silent countryroad twisting & turning through the hills & olive orchards of Las Vegas south of Madrid.
Between the villages of Morata de Tajuña (try the best "palmeras de chocolate") and Valdelaguna lies a hidden forgotten 12km stretch of road that is unlike any other in the area. No speeding cars or big trucks, maybe a farmer or some fellow cyclists? No straight wide lanes with shoulders full of gravel, but an old & tiny asphalt road that snakes through the landscape.
Take the M316 to reach the quintessential spanish hilltown of Chinchón, with it's cobbled streets & historic terraced Plaza Mayor that doubles as bullring & artisanal marketsquare. Stop over for some green olives from Campo Real, a local Crianza wine or the strong anis liquor named after the city.
Don't forget to peek inside the breathtaking Parador.
