Arcadians Club Day 2026 🏏
Once an Arcadian, Always an Arcadian
23 August’26 was one of those special days when cricket became much more than a game.
Our annual Arcadians tradition brought the Arcadians Stars — our former players — together with today’s Arcadians for a friendly match on the ground that has been home to so many of us for more than 20 years.
The atmosphere was simply magical — cricket, laughter, old stories, friendly banter, hugs and countless smiles. Some players returned after eight or ten years away, and you could see the happiness in their eyes as they stepped onto the familiar ground again. It felt as though the ground itself was welcoming them home.
That is what makes this day so special. Our younger players meet the people who helped build Arcadians from 2004–2005 onwards, while our former players see that what they created is still growing. One generation passes on its memories, experience and values; the next carries them forward.
Around the boundary, families, partners, children, friends and even pets gathered together. With homemade biryani, curries, lamb, pakoras, desserts, drinks and endless cups of hot tea, it felt less like a cricket match and more like one big family gathering in our own backyard.
A special thank you to Scotty, who came especially to umpire and received his Arcadians black cap — a small but meaningful symbol that he is now part of this family for life.
And seeing so many familiar faces again made the day truly unforgettable.
People may stop playing. Life moves on. Years may pass. But when you return to this ground and immediately feel at home, you realise that Arcadians is not simply a cricket club. It is friendship, memories, belonging and family.
Thank you to everyone who made today so beautiful.
Stay happy, stay healthy, and until we meet again next year…
Once an Arcadian, always an Arcadian. 🏏🇧🇪👍
